The hardware for the GoForth robot kit is based on Meccano. Meccano is a mechanical construction system now available world wide. It comprises. Metal parts and shapes with regular punched holes that are bolted together to form a structures, frames and mechanisms, no push-together plastic bricks. A complete 3D CAD design system based on Meccano parts. We have negotiated a special license for schools. Special ST adaptors to match Meccano to our servos. Based processor board with embedded Forth.

The goForth kit is supplied in a box complete with:. CD with Forth GUI and libraries, and the VirtualMec CAD system. Sufficient Meccano parts to build fairly ambitious robotic devices. ARM micro-controller with embedded Forth. Breadboard and plenty of jump-leads. LED and resistor for initial tests. Hex keys and small pliers. Extensive user manual geared to younger people. Software: Geena Chacko and David Sands. Hardware: DJ Mathews and Kyle Keen. MATERIALS HOW TO APPLY.

The software for the GoForth robot kit is written in Forth and loosely based on ST Robotic's proprietory RoboForth software. This is a text based that allows for a building block approach to programming, reminiscent of Logo (and the turtle). All the commands are English language. You can try one immediately or incorporate one in your program. And there are no curly brackets to worry about. Only bad news is the RPN (stack based) numerical expression but you soon get used to it.

We have a small number of trial kits available to schools around Cambridge, UK and Princeton NJ. If you are interested please write to David Sands, email goforth at strobotics dot com. We will keep you informed of developments and we will send you a kit when available. The goForth kit is now available to purchase outside of the trial areas at approx $300 US or 280 EUR.
