Spotlight: Star Trek V. Who doesn't fondly remember Star Trek V? That was the one with Khan and wait no. That was the one with the whales no not that either. Oh yeah. Star Trek V: The Search for God (sic). Not exactly one of the shining moments in Star Trek history. The movie had its share of issues, and therefore it's not surprising that the NES game bearing the same name does as well. This first part has little challenge, and graphically, it's about as interesting as a history lesson on cheese. If ...

Spotlight: Bashi Bazook: Morphoid Masher. I'd like to think that Jaleco's fate has been a little bit more tragic than any other company whose games have been covered by Lost Levels. Interesting historical footnotes that they may be, few of the games featured here would have drastically altered gaming history had they seen official release. California Raisins. On the NES. The upcoming Final Fantasy XII. Is all but guaranteed a US release, even though a localization of Final Fantasy II. Is also a very shor...

Block Out for the NES. Posted on September 1st, 2013 by Frank Cifaldi. Hey everyone, new game time! Continuing our extreme bias toward the Nintendo Entertainment System, this time around we’re spotlighting American Technos’ Block Out, based on the arcade game of the same name (which, itself, was based on a PC game). Head on over to the article. And give it a whirl! Laquo; Has it been ten years already? Chip’s Challenge for the NES. Block Out for the NES. Hard Drivin' for the NES. Spotlight: Bio Force Ape.

Block Out for the NES. It probably made a lot of sense to bring Block Out to the NES. When American Technos announced its intention to release the game at the 1990 Winter Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the video game industry was in the middle of a mini goldrush for puzzle games, thanks to the monster success that was Alexey Pajitnov's Tetris. The NES version is actually based on Technos' own arcade rendition of the original. A prototype of the NES version was randomly found at a Goodwill. What'...

Has it been ten years already? Posted on August 2nd, 2013 by Frank Cifaldi. The Lost Levels pirate crew and I launched our first features on this website exactly ten years ago today*, believe it or not (I hardly do). It was going to be great, too! We’ve got a new article for you today, one that I couldn’t be happier to finally get around to publishing on our anniversary: the story behind Tengen’s Hard Drivin’ for the NES. And yes, there’s a demo to download and play with. Have fun. See you in another ten.
