From the Baxyard

"Every family has a story that it tells itself, that it passes on to the children and grandchildren. The story grows over the years, mutates, some parts are sharpened, others dropped, and there is often debate about what really happened. But even with these different sides of the same story, there is still agreement that this is the family story. And in the absence of other narratives, it becomes the flagpole that the family hangs its identity from." A.M. Homes

From the Baxyard: April 2012

http://fromthebaxyard.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 13, 2012. If you love something. This morning while working out at Fusion I was reminded of something very small, but very important - smile! And it got me thinking. I love, and I mean love, hard, intense workouts that really push me. I am one of those people who could work out all day - regardless! But there I was with I am sure some very intense, not pleasant look on my face and the lovely trainer reminded me to smile! Thursday, April 12, 2012. What is not to love? The Baxyard, Kansas.

From the Baxyard: November 2011

http://fromthebaxyard.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 17, 2011. Life gives you lemons and you don't want to make lemonade. Maybe you don't want lemonade because it is to cold out to drink lemonade, you don't like lemonade or your local grocery store simply doesn't have enough sugar for all the lemons. Maybe you don't even like lemon cake or lemon cream pie or lemon poppyseed muffins. So, when life gives you lemons and you don't want lemonade, what do you do? Do you sleep more, sleep less, take long walks, long drives? The Baxyard, Kansas.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012. All I can say is. When you stop writing for a while and stop thinking about writing it is liberating and easy. So this post is not perfect. It is not funny or cute or witty or worth sharing. There isn't even a picture. We shall see what comes of this. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Baxyard, Kansas. From the Baxyard: School Thoughts

http://fromthebaxyard.blogspot.com/2011/09/school-thoughts.html

Friday, September 2, 2011. Last night was back to school night at St. Michael's. A night I usually dread. And last night, I was especially dreading it because I was going solo as Dave was working in San Francisco (his company's offices are based in San Fran). I am easily overwhelmed by the number of people and the amount of effort that seemingly goes into the dress code for this rather uneventful night. Thank you Mrs. Elston - you made the whole night worthwhile for me. Have a great long weekend.

Funny Bathroom Graffiti – Funny Products and other funny stuff

Charlie Sheen Bathroom Graffiti. This is really more of a bathroom graffiti art installation than your average bathroom wall scribble. Who doesn’t love Charlie Sheen? We’re happy that he’s not as crazy as he once was, but we also wouldn’t be upset if he let the crazy out of the cage again. Safely of course. Just no more one-man shows. We all went, we left early. From the bay window. Where in the world. The beautiful trait of neediness. In thoughts on God. On August 11, 2012. We think we are big and strong and can handle depriving ourselves of sustenance, like the pride that comes with how many meals you can say you’ve skipped (and for what? The pride of being the busiest, most pressured, most caffeinated, the person who wins the trophy of being able to shout, “my life is the busiest, but look! I’m still alive! And i’m handling it great!
