Saturday, February 8, 2014. How to mourn, how to remember. After I shared my thoughts about miscarriage on this blog. And then after The Banner. Graciously printed my piece, I had several conversations with people who agreed that, yes, we need to do a better job at remembering those who are suffering the loss of a pregnancy. But then the question came up: how? It’s a good question. So how do we mourn with them, how do we remember? The loss they feel is real. And raw. Let’s get this one out of the w...

from the hills: May 2013

http://fromthehillsblog.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 6, 2013. I would walk 500 miles . or maybe just 104.5 km. Well, April is over, and that means my walking challenge. Is over, too. Was a good experience: I burned some calories. I witnessed the day-by-day growth of those first spring blooms each time I walked by my neighbours' gardens. I relished the sunshine and fresh air. COMMENTS / EXCUSES / JUSTIFICATIONS. Cranky baby = speedy option required to get home quick if necessary. April storm = hibernation. April storm = hibernation. This blog's ...

from the hills: A birth story

http://fromthehillsblog.blogspot.com/2013/12/a-birth-story.html

Friday, December 13, 2013. So, it has been an age and a day since I posted. I am a very neglectful blogger. To get back into the swing of things, I thought I would share D's birth story as we celebrate his birthday. One years old! Where on earth did the past year go? I scribbled down D's birth story in the hours and days after he joined our family. And then, a few months back, I pulled it all together for my cousin, Jennie. So, without further ado, here is our birth story. When they were in labour &#8211...

from the hills: To market, to market

http://fromthehillsblog.blogspot.com/2013/06/to-market-to-market.html

Saturday, June 29, 2013. To market, to market. One of my favourite things about summer is the weekly Farmers' Market. Here are some of our delicious finds this morning on Main Street. Freshly baked sourdough from The Glen Oven Tea Room. Ben's favourite! Our weekly organic veggie CSA from. We went with potatoes, sweet potatoes, kohlrabi, green onion, kale, broccoli, swiss chard, spinach, and herbs. Yum! Nothing beats fresh, local berries. Hello, strawberries! What are your favourite market finds?

from the hills: Advice

http://fromthehillsblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/advice.html

Friday, August 2, 2013. A few of my pregnant friends have recently asked me what advice I might offer about raising a wee one. I've been mulling over what advice to give . advice is, after all, such a tricky thing. Every momma and every baby is unique; there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to parenting. Tip No. 5: Sleep is your friend. Find your own way. But then your adorable son or daughter will serve you a hefty slice of humble pie, and you'll wonder what on earth you're doing. We experience...

Change is in the air | All Thought Out

https://allthoughtout.wordpress.com/2013/02/22/change-is-in-the-air

The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think. Who’s Doing the Thinking? Change is in the air. Or on the screen. After a hiatus of, oh, forever, I’m back! For those who have faithfully followed this blog (Hi, Mom! Since September 2008, thank you! I always have time for a run-on sentence.). That’s right. Without a doubt, resurrecting this blog will help me fix those last two points. As I write more, you may begin to notice a few changes around here. Layout. Content....Of course...

From the High Dive

From the High Dive. Solo Camping for Two Nights: Doublin’ Down at Governor Dodge. June 18, 2012. This time I explored Governor Dodge in Iowa County and on my way to my site I saw this on the campground road. Right on, kids. I’m working on it. The first night I was not yet in the vacation mindset, still sort of reeling and not sure how to relax, but I found a feather and spent time checking out the wildflowers and then I heard a Veery. There was a sign at the park office about not feeding those rascals an...

From the high seas - etc. Summer 2011 Voyage to HI. The adventure… one of the longest passages possible, over two thousand miles, from Sausalito to Hawaii. They say: out the Gate, hang a left for a bit, then turn right into the isobar slot, then hop off with the trades to the island. can't do much wrong, worst case follow the contrails of the passenger airplanes…. Lightly different approach, because we can! Meanwhile the condiments of the "real adventure" are brewing. My wife and son are below, they're n...

From The Hill – Matthew 5:14. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. NAU. Posted by: Robin Foster. July 18, 2013. When And How To Criticize. I have been blessed with may insightful areas from my own leadership experience (and yes, past blogging experience), but these have become very helpful as others have looked and been critical of my leadership:.
