OK, so quite unexpectedly we find ourselves in Puerto Lucia, Salinas, Ecuador, although we already covered about 1/3 of the way to Galápagos islands! There has been about another 30 vessels of different nationalities rolling around with us, and I bet at least half of them were waiting for some parts for repairs as well! We were lucky as this is French Polynesia, our parts were coming from France and surprisingly post office system was efficient and we received what we needed in only eight days! We lost a day. Finally we were able to hit the trade wind, thanks to a representative from the Amel Yard, who provided us with his social security number and so the “overnight delivery” package was shipped to us more than three weeks later! Incredible., but all this delay gave us an opportunity to visit Gran Canaria island from the touristic seaside to the sinuous roads of the mountains with some breathtaking scenery along the way.
