Tofu. Bland, white and wobbly, but that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible for it to taste good – after all, Japanese and Chinese cooks have been making tofu really freakin’ delicious for centuries…. Preparation time: 15 minutes. Cooking time: 10 minutes. 400g tofu (see Cook’s Notes, below). 1 tbsp minced garlic.

Whine & dine. Tarting Up the Year of the Horse. Monday, January 6th, 2014.11:42 am. Yamazaki and Yuzu Glazed Carrots. And that marmalade is pretty sneaky stuff. It managed to worm its way into the Christmas ham. A little dollop snuck into the dressing for the fried brussel sprouts, I think I blitzed up a scoop into the mushroom duxelles for my Beef Wellington, and of course I had to dump some into my glazed carrots. :). Here in Hong Kong, the average vegetable stall boasts a bewildering number of variations on the “leafy green” theme. Piles of pak choy nestle alongside crinkly pale-green cabbages, and opportunistic wasps buzz around heaps of choy sum, searching for the plant’s tiny yellow flowers. Some look alike but are cooked differently, some look different but taste the same, and most have. Choy sum / 菜心 / cài xīn.
