I eventually took a walk to our local supermarket to pick up a few things and check out the situation and was amazed to see just how empty a lot of the shelves were. There was plenty of fresh produce, fish and meat, but a lot of other sections including snacks, instant ramen, bread, cereal, toilet paper and milk were either empty or just about empty!
