This awareness survives in a few places, mostly amongst traditional peoples. At the Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary we work closely with the native plants of the Western Ghat mountains in India. Through them we nurture land, water, habitat and community. The whole earth, with its mountains, forests, rivers, soils, grasslands, glaciers, winds and oceans, is sacred.
