On the Road Again - Cross Canada 2006

On the Road Again - Cross Canada 2006. Posted by O'Leary at 10:03 PM. There’s a Ship Lying Waiting in the Harbour. July 5 7, 2006. Goodbye Newfoundland forever in our hearts. The ferry left right on time at 8am and we immediately adjusted our watches that silly half hour. Sunny when we left, the fog descended so we stayed inside most of the journey, snoozing and reading. Do you think it would be ok if we parked our motorhome in your lot overnight? Once more I nervously choked out the request. We’d picked ...

On the Road Again - Cross Canada 2006. We were on the road by 1:30 wanting to make a bit of distance. It’s amazing what a difference two weeks makes when summer holidays start in the middle of it. We’d pick...

On the Road Again - Cross Canada 2006: The Summer Wind

http://www.gerril1.blogspot.com/2006/07/summer-wind.html

On the Road Again - Cross Canada 2006. June 28 29, 2006. She brought our lunch and drinks and Fernie asked her what ‘tongues’ were. They were on the menu. You never tasted tongues? So, what did we think of tongues? They’re pretty mild in flavour, not unpleasant, but the texture is a bit chewy. Not something I’d choose. But we were overwhelmed by her kindness and friendliness, as we seem to be with every encounter in Newfoundland. Posted by O'Leary at 9:39 PM. Yo, Ho, Ho – Avast Me Hearties! Ldquo;It&rsqu...

http://www.gerril1.blogspot.com/2006/06/raindrops-keep-falling-on-our-heads.html

On the Road Again - Cross Canada 2006. Raindrops Keep Falling on Our Heads. June 15 - 17, 2006. Who knew the clouds could hold so much moisture? The weather was lousy but it was early in the day so we drove over to Lunenburg, parking Maggie a few blocks from the historical centre and braving the downpour in our raincoats, hats and duck shoes. We couldn’t use umbrellas because the wind was starting to really blow. Caesar was so afraid of the terrible wind that he wouldn’t do his duty when Fernie put him o...

http://www.gerril1.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

On the Road Again - Cross Canada 2006. June 22 25, 2006. The ferry siren and the revving of the big semi-trailer tractors aroused us just before 6am. They were loading the boat for Argentia, which is on the eastern coast of Newfoundland. That ferry is a sixteen hour run as opposed to our five to 6 hour one to Port aux Basque on the west coast; hence our choice. We couldn’t imagine leaving Caesar down in the dungeon alone for sixteen hours. George was almost unintelligible as he quipped and laughed in his...

On the Road Again - Cross Canada 2006. It’s Getting Hot In Here.I’m gonna take my clothes off. May 29, 2006. With sweat dripping down our noses, tempers were short and we ended up driving along to a big parking lot eventually. We had to lube the tow bar and fiddle with it but finally we got it operational and we were on our way. Imagine that we were cursing the hot sunny day after weeks of whining about the cold. Posted by O'Leary at 7:22 AM. May 19 to 29, 2006. Glen Rouge Campground, tucked into the vas...

Vacating Vancouver 2009: Homeward Bound......

http://gerril12.blogspot.com/2009/05/homeward-bound.html

Maggie the motorhome had to be extricated from a deep smothering shroud of frozen snow in order to sail south to the sunshine. Friday, May 29, 2009. Home is where our thoughts are escaping. Home is where our music's playing. Liberties taken with the original by Simon and Garfunkel from 1966. They didn't even care that we had ham and bacon.and I thought the 'swine flu' would have them extremely paranoid about pig products. Go figure! And what a harridan I must seem to you all). Drifting Dogless 2010: Desert Rats

http://gerril15.blogspot.com/2010/02/desert-rats.html

Winters in the south are becoming the norm for us now and Maggie feels more like home than home. There's only one thing missing.Caesar! We were hungry for lazy, warm sunny days with nothing to do but just enjoy and the desert beckoned. On our way down to Quartzsite, we stopped for one night at Laughlin where Fernie has his favorite poker table at the Edgewater. He didn't break the bank but he made enough to treat me to a movie; no dinner, because I'm dieting (what's new? February 1, 2010 at 8:42 PM.

Wednesday, October 27, 2010. The North and Basque Country. Ahhhh another sleep in. Our train back to Madrid didn't leave 'til early afternoon. Halfway through our journey, we' discussed how wonderful it is when we travel in Maggie (the motorhome) with a kitchen, our own bed and bathroom and most of all – Casey. Not that we'd like to motorhome in Europe – with the parking here, it would be a nightmare. It looks like all Fernie does is sleep). How I hate those early morning alarms – 6:15 feels like t...

Rambling in Japan and Cruising Across the Pacific 2005

Rambling in Japan and Cruising Across the Pacific 2005. Wednesday, May 11, 2005. As we crested the last hill and the panorama of the Port Mann bridge arcing over the Fraser River delighted our eyes, the backdrop of our home on the hill beckoned us back to the responsibilities of our mundane lives. Our long awaited trip was over. Thirty days away was not enough - what would satisfy this constant yearning to explore the nooks and crannies of the world? Posted by O'Leary @ 6:30 PM. How we spent our summer vacation - 2009

How we spent our summer vacation - 2009. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. It all started with the week-long semi-annual Boivin reunion, held at the lake (Lac la Hache), surrounded by about a hundred and thirty folk – all related. Mind boggling to me because a family reunion on my side would total in the single digits. Myffy, our eleven year old granddaughter flew from Toronto to accompany us and Cairo who lives near us is now fourteen and would never miss a family event. Or was he just trying to get my attention.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road - Australia 2009. Even though we've sailed into Sydney Harbour before, we still got up early to see the early morning sun shine on the beautiful city. Even at that hour of the day, there were climbers at the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. They yelled and waved with glee as the huge ship squeezed under the centre of the bridge and slid around the corner to dock at Darling Harbour. 8220;When will we have some choppy seas so we'll know that we're on a ship? We spent a day and...
