Showing a little imagination. Free to Read – From the Christmas Diary of a Retired Detective 2. Dust down the Denim. August 21, 2016. I’ve read that embellished denim is on-trend, especially embroidered denim. I’d seen a few tweets by magazines about it, and there was a feature in this week’s Sunday Times’ Style magazine. This is how the upcycling project turned out. I’m really pleased with it. Since retiring from a career in the public services I now lecture at a Midlands University. I also write, p...

Showing a little imagination. Review: ‘From the Diary of a Retired Detective: Gary Farrow is All at Sea’ by Glyn Timmins. Writing’s Hard – Selling is Harder →. March 11, 2015. The Book of Tomorrow. At 25, to come back to a primary school-esque essay topic seems counter-intuitive. It goes against everything we teach the next generation about inclusivity, accepting all and appreciating the value of each person, rather than placing value judgments. And I’d like to talk to you about one of mine. Review: R...

All Sewn Up | Treasure Trove Tales
https://treasuretrovetales.wordpress.com/2015/07/13/all-sewn-up
July 13, 2015. This is one of the gifts I bought my mum for Mother’s Day. She likes to do crafts and so, when I saw this kit in my local Oxfam shop, I knew it’d make a good present. Recently, she had time to have a go at putting the contents of the kit together to create the corsage, (you can see it at the top of the first photo). She tells me that it was quick, easy and enjoyable to make, so much so that she was inspired to make a few more, using pieces of fabric she’d found in a charity shop.

I already had an iron-on silver star motif at home, bought ages ago from ebay for some long forgotten craft project. I fancied a red rose motif on the jacket too, so I bought one from ebay for less than three quid. Sunday Times Style magazine. July 30, 2016.

Sheer Joy | Treasure Trove Tales

August 12, 2015. Happy me then, when I visited a Tenovus shop and spotted these guys. The dotty top is George (the brand; no, I haven’t given it a name). It’s new with tags and cost me 4.95; half the price I could have paid for it. I’ll wear it with a 50s style swooshy midi skirt and black jacket. The following blooming beauty is M&Co. brand. It’s difficult to see in the photos, but there’s a shimmery gold to the flowers. I really like the retro-style buttons; quite 80s. Happy charity shopping everyone!
