Gabe's Food Collection: June 2008
http://gabe-food.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 28, 2008. Shanghai to Atlanta (Sat). I had most of a morning to kill before heading to the Pudong airport for my flight back to Atlanta (hooray for Delta's direct flight! So I just wandered around the neighborhood near SJTU. Dude selling fresh steamed buns. This bun was *so* good. (and only costs 1RMB = 14 cents). More street-side food stalls/shops. Finished product. Also amazingly good. Also 14 cents. Totally worth the wait. I found a little market. Incredibly crowded. Cool/weird bronze p...

Gabe's Food Collection: April 2008
http://gabe-food.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 21, 2008. Decided to make some Chinese-style dishes, although I don't think any of cooking really qualifies as bona fide Chinese food. Spicy stir-fried/sauteed green beans with red peppers and onions (left). Fermented black-bean sauce with tofu, okra, and a little ground beef. I put too much black-bean sauce in this dish so it came out a little too spicy. Okra isn't very typical in Chinese food from my experience, but I think the texture and flavor works well. http://gabe-food.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 28, 2008. Aquarium, Hot Pot. Before my brother took off to head back to SF, we hit the Georgia Aquarium. Horseshoe crab. Apparently these guys have a large number of eyes, both underneath and on top of the shell! Me and the giant tortoise. That evening, Sue and I made use of our new hot pot which we purchased while we were in Toronto over Christmas break. Sunday, January 27, 2008. NHL All-Star Game: the main event. Me and my brother paying careful attention. Singing of the national anthems.

Gabe's Food Collection: October 2007
http://gabe-food.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 21, 2007. This craziness was plastered all over the *ceilings* of the place. Crazy carpets, furniture, corinthian columns, etc. Oh yeah, Dim Sum. This was really good and incredibly cheap. Something like $1-$1.50 each! Although I think that's just the Sunday special.). Unnecessarily fancy urinal partitions. This used to be a fancy door frame. Now it frames tanks of live seafood. just so Chinese to do something like this. :-). Coffee, assorted fried pierogies, and beet salad. Skip to desse...

Gabe's Food Collection: May 2008
http://gabe-food.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 31, 2008. Saturday, May 24, 2008. Weekend in San Jose y Francisco. Went to San Jose for Heidi and Haiwei's wedding (about time.). Strange mural in San Mateo. Finishing off Lobster Plate #3. It was sad to see so much lobster and abalone go uneaten at the tables with large non-Chinese populations. Michael and I tried our best to eat as much as we could, but after half a platter of abalone and three plates of lobster, we were done. But I like it. Next day, lunch at In-n-Out burgers. Gabe's Food Collection: September 2008
http://gabe-food.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 14, 2008. Edinburgh back to Atlanta. Get up early, check out, catch the shuttle bus back to the airport. Nice sunrise coming up over the North Bridge. Front seat in the top of the double-decker bus. Frenchie sandwich in CDG. Saturday, September 13, 2008. Another day of playing tourist. First order of business, hunt down the local farmer's market. I don't know my game birds as well as I should. I ordered myself a "bacon buttie." What's that you ask? Scotch eggs. (huh? View from a top the...

Gabe's Food Collection: November 2007
http://gabe-food.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 23, 2007. Breakfast at Winchell's Donuts. The doughnuts were quite tasty, although the coffee was a bit lacking. For dinner, we went out to the Hofbrauhaus. A German restaurant which has since branched out and opened up franchises outside of Germany (we've been to the one in Munich before. that one is a lot rowdier). I got some kind of mixed plate with two kinds of pork and spaetzle (German egg noodes). Sue got the mixed sausage plate with kraut. Saturday, November 3, 2007.

Gabe's Food Collection: Savannah
http://gabe-food.blogspot.com/2008/10/savannah.html
Sunday, October 12, 2008. It was kind of a cloudy, dreary, rainy day. We first wandered over to Paula Deen's restaurant, but the lines were crazy long, so we decided that we'd just have to survive our trip to Savannah without consuming three pounds of butter each. Nearby kitchen shop with a murderous knife stand. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). If you have a big helping of food, you will be content" - Katori Shintaro/Shingo, Rolling Bomber Special. My reviews on Yelp. More food (my brother, Nat).

Gabe's Food Collection: Georgia State Fair and Savannah
http://gabe-food.blogspot.com/2008/10/georgia-state-fair-and-savannah.html
Saturday, October 11, 2008. Georgia State Fair and Savannah. This was the last road trip/vacation prior to the arrival of our munchkin. We wanted to keep it simple and local, so we spent the afternoon at the Georgia State Fair and then drove out to the sea. Mandatory BBQ stop along the way. Brunswick stew, pork sandwich, corn bread. State fair had a neat rabbit show that we didn't see last year. This rabbit is bigger than a lot of dogs. Couldn't quite tell how large this one was. Dole whip. Yum! More foo...
