http://valgerda.blogspot.com/2014/06/ravns-new-owners.html
Ravn: a 19-foot faering. A detailed account of the building of a faering designed by Atkin and her continuing adventures. Sunday, June 15, 2014. Paul, Ravn's new owner, takes the oars. It was more than two years ago that my wife and I decided to buy a sailboat and go cruising. This was and is one of the most exciting and life-changing decisions ever and we are both fully committed to it. It means selling or giving away everything that won't fit on our Columbia 43 sailboat Oceanus. The following Saturday ...

My peculiar nature: October 2014
http://mypeculiarnature.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
An exploration of, well, whatever I happen to be interested in. Probably more Japanese tools and sharpening stones than any sane person would want to see. The fools progress? Thursday, October 30, 2014. A gift for a friend- - -refurbishing a seme-ganna Japanese plane. I've been building some stairs, to access an attic bedroom that we built only, what. 6 years ago! The ladder that we had been using had it's charm, but I think that the renters of our house might want something a bit more traditional. The i...

A BIG madonoko saw! So here is one of the saws that I have recently received.a monster madonoko ("window saw", I believe.referring to the deep gullet that were cut into the saw plate to better facilitate chip clearance). The original auction photo from Yahoo Japan auctions. Http:/ rk-trading.ocnk.net/. It's ...

An exploration of, well, whatever I happen to be interested in. Probably more Japanese tools and sharpening stones than any sane person would want to see. The fools progress? Saturday, December 20, 2014. So, here we are, a million things are running through my head, and I've got writer's block. I thought about calling this post, "How NOT to move to Hawaii! But after the first few days, things have begin to settle down a bit. Thank god. Listen to the roosters crow (there are many! Renee somehow found us a...

An exploration of, well, whatever I happen to be interested in. Probably more Japanese tools and sharpening stones than any sane person would want to see. The fools progress? Sunday, August 2, 2015. It's tool sharpening day again.Oh joy! As you know by now, that's not meant to sound sarcastic, either. This bevel angle wanders around a bit, so I'm just trying to improve things a little bit. What looks like dust on the blade.that's steel. These files cut! They arrived two days ago, and they are perfect!

An exploration of, well, whatever I happen to be interested in. Probably more Japanese tools and sharpening stones than any sane person would want to see. The fools progress? Saturday, November 29, 2014. The list.(and not the the Christmas kind). It is very nearly time for us to go. The big move is neigh, and swiftly approaches. I'm getting anxious. We haven't chosen a place too live yet preferring, it seems, to trust in providence to guide us once we arrive. Where will we live? Will we have electricity?

At least it is warm here. Sailboats are like small, self-sufficient nations, with limited contact with the greater world. ALL people living on cruising sailboats are living an alternative energy lifestyle, and boats run the range from having no power at all, to some boats having all the comforts of home.

An exploration of, well, whatever I happen to be interested in. Probably more Japanese tools and sharpening stones than any sane person would want to see. The fools progress? Monday, May 26, 2014. Using a diamond grit lap to repair a cracked Japanese plane blade. There's more to show about working with the loose diamond grit, at least as far as using it in lieu of a coarse sharpening stone. Out of all the combinations that I have tried so far, the maple plywood showed the most promise. And got to work.

What's that old saying? If you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail? To a certain degree, the type and variety of tools that you have will dictate the projects that you take on. Maybe if I start unpacking some tools, I'll be able to break this terrible case of builder's block that I'm suffering.
