So that’s that – Hand Knitted Yorkshire
https://handknittedyorkshire.wordpress.com/2016/12/26/so-thats-that
So that’s that. December 26, 2016. If you’ve read my early posts you’ll know why I’m not a big time Christmas fan. Don’t get me wrong, I like it, just at my own pace. I’m not into loads of decorations, just a nod to the season, a light or two. A few cards displayed the day before. I’m not a fan of festive food either, no mince pies for me. Just some jelly and a splash of cream will do for me. With half the day gone I get to come home in time for Christmas lunch without the pressure and fuss. On A good egg.

Reflections on 2016 – Hand Knitted Yorkshire
https://handknittedyorkshire.wordpress.com/2016/12/31/reflections-on-2016
December 31, 2016. December 31, 2016. As the clock counts down on 2016, it’s time to have a look back at the year and reflect on what this year has taught me. In 2016 we opened our second Etsy shop. It all came about after a conversation about how we could earn free listings, if you can believe that! Which despite being lots more work; it really is twice the fun! Don’t beat yourself up, just do your best and find some joy. I dipped toe into the sea of internet dating (that’s a whole other blog! Thank you...
Messy or what? – Hand Knitted Yorkshire
https://handknittedyorkshire.wordpress.com/2017/01/04/messy-or-what
January 4, 2017. Is it just me or are these new “messy bun” hats just deep headbands? And so, tonight I am knitting a headband to put back into our store. It’s hard to tell but this is a lovely purple shade. The yarn is Jarol Sweet Briar which is chunky and 20% wool. It is by far my favourite chunky yarn to knit with. Thanks for stopping by. Are we nearly there yet? 2 thoughts on “ Messy or what? January 4, 2017 at 6:31 pm. Oooh this looks lovely! Liked by 1 person. January 10, 2017 at 7:09 am.

Holiday to see the Northern Lights – Iceland 2014 | cwyl
https://cwyl.wordpress.com/2014/02/10/holiday-to-see-the-northern-lights-iceland-2014
All my random interests in one place. Holiday to see the Northern Lights – Iceland 2014. We arrived in Reykjavik to rain, which quickly turned to heavy snow. This was a mixed blessing. When we had landed, the sight of miles of black sand and ash, rocks and dead grass had been a little depressing. The snow made everything look magical. However, the rain and snow meant that the weather was totally unsuitable for seeing the Aurora. We were concerned, but not too much so. The spa uses the heat from the hot v...

All my random interests in one place. In Baking and brewing. This Summer’s Blackcurrant Wine. New soap moulds and colours | cwyl
https://cwyl.wordpress.com/2015/11/17/new-soap-moulds-and-colours
All my random interests in one place. In Baking and brewing. New soap moulds and colours. The new soaps curing next to the last of the previous batch. After a long while using the soaps I last made, I decided that it was time to make some more so that it had time to harden into better bars before I needed it. I was a bit unsure about justifying spending a lot of money on silicone moulds, and almost as unsure about how easy the cheaper plastic moulds would prove to be when it came to getting the soaps out.

All my random interests in one place. Blackcurrant Wine after racking into demijohn. Partly because I have an allotment and get gluts of things, and partly because I have a bit of a hippy streak, I love to make things myself. I have recently just started making wine. From the fruits off the allotment – mostly to free up space in the freezer for things that cannot be properly preserved like peas and beans. Gooseberries mashing with yeast. Second go at soapmaking – going slightly mad! | cwyl
https://cwyl.wordpress.com/2014/02/22/second-go-at-soapmaking-going-slightly-mad
All my random interests in one place. Second go at soapmaking – going slightly mad! Today I have had another go at making soap, and I decided to try several different things with the base soap. This may or may not turn out to be a good idea, but at least the experiment should teach me something. I only have two pieces of soap left from my previous batch, so I needed to make some more now and give it time to cure. Here it is:. Quite a few essential oils. Optional extras for soap. I measured out the oils a...
Argentine Tango | cwyl

All my random interests in one place. One of my favourite things to do is go dancing the Argentine Tango. I was watching Strictly Come Dancing with Tim sometime in late 2006 and we had liked or disliked various dances in turn, not always in agreement. But on this particular night we saw Vincent Simone. Dance a demonstration of the Argentine Tango. We immediately agreed that if we were to learn one dance, that was the one for us! Vincent and Flavia dance a stage version of the Argentine tango, which has m...
The Allotment | cwyl

All my random interests in one place. I have had a council allotment near my house for about seven years, and while this year has not been the best ever, I have had a few triumphs. This year, the beetroot worked, the blackcurrant bush outdid itself (and the capacity of my freezer), and the sage went mad! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. All my random interests in one place. In Releasing the Steam. Driving in Bradford – part 1. Many people these days know perfectly well that driving in my home town is becoming somewhat of a trial. In fact, insurance in Bradford can be not only expensive, but some companies will not accept applications for a policy from anyone with a BD postcode. This is entirely down to the overall state of driving in this once great city. The chief crimes against driving are, in no particular order:. It happened to me&#...

All my random interests in one place. Maple Leaf Shawl finished. This is the first shawl I have knitted, and a rare thing in that I don’t usually use lace weight wool or knit lacy patterns. I get bogged down if there are too many holes! I started the project three weeks ago when I fell ill with a bad cold, and sitting on the sofa knitting in between sneezing was about all I was good for…. And came free with a copy of The Knitter.
