Harry in Israel: January 2009
http://harryinisrael.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 5, 2009. I'm sitting here in the Library at HUC trying to study for my exams. Why am I not able to focus? Well other than the normal internet related distractions like facebook and hockey scores, there's a war going on in my backyard. It’s been on my mind since the whole thing started two weeks ago. I'll never be able to forget exactly where I was when it happened. Fast forward to this last Saturday evening. Strolling. Now the picture is becoming clearer as to what is actually happening in.
Harry in Israel: March 2009
http://harryinisrael.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 15, 2009. In a few short weeks people in my class will start their packing to head back to the United States and Canada. My reflection group will be having a discussion about 'What we will be packing with us' when we head home. I jokingly said to them: a very small backpack. My last blog post was about the counter I have counting up on my facebook page. Well today I added a new counter: My Countdown to עליה! Walk down the streets of Israel on Friday night and there is one thing you'll hear&...
Harry in Israel: September 2009
http://harryinisrael.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 2, 2009. The past few weeks have been an absolute blur here. I'll try to break down exactly what has been happening during this time period. My Gadna experience was a bit different as the entirety of the week was spent with only Garin Tzabar participants. Unlike some Israeli teens, our motivation to join the army is not a question. We came here and joined the Garin Tzabar project to be a part of the IDF. During our last day of Gadna most of us finally got our new cellphones! Next I w...

Thursday, May 22, 2008. So tonight begins one of my favorite holidays: Lag B'Omer! If you're counting the Omer, you can check to see what day it is on my blog or my sister's. Wrote the code for her counter.) Lag B'Omer is the middle day of the counting of the Omer. It's a special day during the counting because you are allowed to do many of the things normally forbidden during the Omer. You can:. Get Married (One day only! Listen to Music (Some of my favorite bands just came out with new CDs! Anyway I en...

of the sands and the cliffs: October 2008
http://sandsandcliffs.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Of the sands and the cliffs. A year in jerusalem. Friday, October 31, 2008. This is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween. Well, Halloween in Jerusalem is pretty much like any other night, except when you're at HUC! The planning process was fairly easy; we sent out some e-mails, came up with a theme (Halloween! Let's compare again) process, but strangely fulfilling. We also made handmade decorations - ghosts, pumpkins, a Happy Halloween sign, and Ari carved a Jack O'Lantern out of a melon. All in all, it was a...

of the sands and the cliffs: June 2009
http://sandsandcliffs.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Of the sands and the cliffs. A year in jerusalem. Saturday, June 20, 2009. Re-entry: top hat stories. It’s really anecdotes, stories, funny moments, that really embody the experience. But telling them is often difficult. I’m well aware of the irony that by explaining what a top hat story is, I have to tell a top hat story.). Monday, June 15, 2009. Re-entry: rip van winkling. Tuesday, June 9, 2009. And in the end, there's a beginning. As I was furiously, madly packing tonight (this morning? I've reached a...

Of the sands and the cliffs. A year in jerusalem. Monday, August 25, 2008. In what might be the last post before my post-Ulpan pre-Semester break (during which I'll be backpacking for 7 days in the Golan and Galilee), I'm not sure really what to post, because there hasn't been anything amazingly noteworthy, just a series of very cool events. So, here goes. Lisa, Jim, Jason. Ari, Jaclyn, Lisa, Jim. I think there was some confusion about where people should have been looking for this picture.). Tomorrow (T...

Of the sands and the cliffs. A year in jerusalem. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. In order to enjoy one of the most important American traditions, Oscar Night – my equivalent of the Super Bowl – a lot of planning needed to occur. There’s an episode of How I Met Your Mother. I thought the ceremony itself was good; Hugh Jackman did a fine job. I was mostly pleased with the winners – I’ve only seen very few of the nominated films; Slumdog. Saturday, February 21, 2009. This past week, though, things have been ...

Of the sands and the cliffs. A year in jerusalem. Sunday, May 31, 2009. Pampering ourselves in phnom penh. Angkor Wat is truly spectacular. I'd learned about it in my archeology of cities course my 4th year at UCLA, but not really in great depth. But it's amazing! Angkor Wat is really a misnomer, it's really the temples and cities, spread out over many kilometers, of Angkor - Angkor Wat is the biggest and most central Temple; it's the biggest religious building in the world. How about that, huh? Say hell...
A Buckeye in Israel: Passover!
http://buckeyeinisrael.blogspot.com/2009/04/passover.html
A Buckeye in Israel. Follow me through my first year of rabbinical school at HUC in Jerusalem! Monday, April 27, 2009. For those of you counting, this is the second of the three P's! After a VERY grueling plane ride, Mom and Vicki arrived at the airport in Tel Aviv in the middle of the night. I was there to greet them because one of my professor's wives was on that very same flight, my professor found out I was waiting for my mom, and offered to take me to the airport and pick up the whole crew! After an...

harrying in a sentence | simple examples
In A Sentence .org. The best little site that helps you understand word usage with examples. Harrying in a sentence. All around however, I see weeping, wailing, and constant harrying from the conservative Blogaspghere. We lived on a safe street, where Badger still managed to get in plenty of trouble, the most famous incident being chasing the tires of Merediths Vice Principals bicycle, barking loudly and harrying the poor guy until he finally ran off the sidewalk and landed in our neighbors ivy. All arou...

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." – Here's to the Crazy Ones
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music. Here's to the Crazy Ones. Here's to the Crazy Ones. Ah, this time tomorrow, where will we be? I’m reminded of something I wrote before about experiencing what it’s like to be Schrödinger’s cat as I watched an Ateneo vs La Salle UAAP game. Looking into that quantum stuff is pretty much what they mean by going a bit too deep into the rabbit hole, I think…. The Machine is Us. But you see, it’s not about qu...

Sunday, December 26, 2010. And so it is Christmas, and what have you done .'. Today is my last full day in Kakamega, 5 months in Kenya, so 2010 will always be connected to my first true African experience. Its been a rich experience, working and travelling amongst Kenyan people who have extended much kindness and goodheartedness toward this mzungu in their midst. To my Kenyan friends, asante sana, and the same to my Canadian colleagues with whom I have shared the experience. I visited one of his projects...
