Day 4 – Kotohira, Kobe | JQ to Osaka.

October 12, 2013. Day 4 – Kotohira, Kobe. Day 4 was a Saturday. A rainy Saturday. Also, I left my battery charger in the hotel in Kobe. So I shot everything in film until the evening. Kotohira is also pretty famous for udon. Apparently they invented udon (almost all of Shikoku claims so). We dined at one of the restaurants near the foot of the temple steps. I was just happy I had something hot to eat after the long, wet, sticky climb. After that it was pretty much a straight 3-hour drive back to Kobe city.

October 11, 2013. Day 3 – Iya Bijin. On day 3, after the usual big Japanese breakfast, we drove along the narrow winding mountain road. Most of the roads could only fit one car, so when two cars approached each other, the one with the most leeway at the back had to reverse. That’s why it took an hour to drive 20km. We ate soba. October 9, 2013. Day 2 – Iya Onsen, Shikoku. We checked out early to take a walk in the morning of day 2. On our way to a bakery in Kitano, we saw a mosque, and two ladies sitting across the road sketching the mosque. That justified my feeling that Kobe is an awesome city. October 6, 2013. Day 1 – Kobe for the 3rd time. Right after we checked in to the hotel, Chika decided to test our relationship by dropping my Leica on the hard concrete elevator floor. Fortunately it was such a clean hit that the lens and lcd were alright, just some dents on the body. I snuck out alone to Chinatown later to buy some Kobe Croquette and ate some Chinese ramen as a silent rebellion, contemplating how to use this as a leverage for the next 5 years.
