Pacific Adventures: Mail Buoy
http://kerry-pacificadventures.blogspot.com/2012/03/mail-buoy.html
Friday, March 9, 2012. In the very near future, we may experience a loss of Internet for a week or so. (How will we ever survive? During previous ASRAMP cruises, we've lost our Internet connection for a period of time while nearing the Equator. The particular satellite that provides our Internet service is in a geostationary orbit above the Equator, and apparently our satellite dish antenna has a problem pointing straight up (or has a blocked view when doing so or some such reason). Pacific Adventures: Crossing the line
http://kerry-pacificadventures.blogspot.com/2012/03/crossing-line.html
Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Just after leaving Baker Island we crossed the Equator and entered the Realm of King Neptune on our transit to Swains. Over the next 3 days the Slimy Pollywogs proved that they were worthy of becoming Honorable Shellbacks. For those who have not sailed across the Equator yet, I can say no more…. Pacific Adventures: September 2010
http://kerry-pacificadventures.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 18, 2010. Sunset is my favorite time of day. I try to catch it as often as possible when I am out on the ship. The past few days have had some very pretty ones, and I couldn't help but take some pictures. Pearl and Hermes Atoll, day 4. The water was so calm I could photograph even the smallest of ripples. I thought this one might make a nice background for my computer. The moon rising over Pearl and Hermes Atoll. Green Island, Kure Atoll just prior to sunset today. Kure Atoll, day 1.

Pacific Adventures: Holy crabs, Baker!
http://kerry-pacificadventures.blogspot.com/2012/03/holy-crabs-baker.html
Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Holy crabs, Baker! Day One at Baker was a fairly typical ARMS day: Launch the small boat at 0745; first dive over by 0930; back to the ship by 1000; clean gear; lunch at 1100; start processing at 1130; break for a quick dinner at 17:00, and finally wrap up processing by 1830-1900. This is followed by a shower, camera downloading, data entry and lastly sleep! However our second day wasn’t nearly so typical! Molly Installing ARMS in 2010. The same ARMS unit in 2012. Saturday, January 29, 2011. Wow- two posts in a month! Just an update here- Z is scheduled for an upper and lower endoscopy on Tuesday morning. I am really hoping to have some answers shortly after that. The prep isn't gonna be pleasant.liquid diet for 2 days, and lots of 'clean out' ahead of time. Thank goodness for Grandma's coming over! My Heart is in Kyrgyzstan: May 2011
http://kyrgyzheart.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 4, 2011. Is 11 and lives in an orphanage in the Ukraine. According to his bio he likes running, playing tag, and soccer. He loves dogs. He would like to learn how to play volleyball and wishes for his own soccer jersey. Think he has ever seen the ocean- can you imagine seeing that for the first time at the age of 11? Mostly I am so excited for him to have the chance to experience. What then you ask? Of course you do. So do I. Right now we are only feeling called to host Artom.

My Heart is in Kyrgyzstan: Day One: Fun at home
http://kyrgyzheart.blogspot.com/2011/06/day-one-fun-at-home.html
Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Day One: Fun at home. So after a looooong. Day of travel for Artem. We figured it was a good idea to keep day one low key. We have worked out an interesting method of gesturing and turning to google translate when we need it, but we seem to be communicating fairly well. He is very polite and respectful, but also pretty open and friendly. I was worried about feeding him but he seems to be doing ok. There was an after dinner boat ride and a little wakeboarding. Day One: Fun at home.

My Heart is in Kyrgyzstan: June 2010

Thursday, June 24, 2010. Mackenzie's bloggy friend and former bunkmate, Ellie (did they ever occupy Tokmok at the same time? I'm not entirely sure) is on the cover of the Lifeway Babies materials this quarter. We were so excited to see this sweet smile, we had to snag a copy! So, for Ellie's mama- here is their picture together. Maybe someday we can get one in person ;). PS- How is that for a smile? I'm not really sure what that is! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My Heart is in Kyrgyzstan: July 2011
http://kyrgyzheart.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 15, 2011. Lets just say Disney was a fail. Mega summer crowds, intense heat made for one very unhappy (and uncooperative) boy. There were moments of fun, but not at all what I envisioned. Bummer. Oh well. Thursday, July 14, 2011. I was really hoping to manage a blog post more than once a week- pitiful ;) Let me see if I can hit the highlights. Roller Skating- So Artem. Roller skate in Ukraine. We will have to go at least one more time. Another huge hit. He tells me that they have water s...
