Hazard Time Line: 1921. Murder in the Radio building. Mary Mcintosh shoots John Sexton on the 3rd floor of what was then the Beamont Hotel. A shootout on Main street in Hazard left one man dead and a Perry County Sheriff wounded. The shooting happened before a large crowd in front of Sterling Hardware. The front plate glass window of the business was shattered during the shooting. The Hazard Laundry Company opens behind what we now know as the Hazard Sandwich Shop on Main Street (formally Rexall Drug).

Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. As we update this site, more of our history will be added. After Bobby Davis was tragically killed in 1945 at the end World War II, his father, Lawrence O. Davis, wanted to build a "living memorial" to his son and all the other young men who had also died. He expended his own and additional funds from other citizens of Hazard and Perry County to build a park that when completed was visited by thousands of people every summer. Hazard Kentucky .com.
