Helston Museum has a vast social history collection.Dating from the 18th to the 20th century, the range of objects covers agriculture, local trades and industries, law and order, town history, home life, toys, sporting equipment, gardening, transport and health and leisure activities. The archaeology of the Lizard peninsula is represented in the museum by everything from neolithic flint tools, Bronze Age pottery, finds from a Roman villa and evidence from one of the four salt making sites in the area.

Housed in Helston's former Market House and Drill Hall, the museum building itself offers a valuable insight into the history and architecture of the town. Skip to main content. Proposals for an urban extension for Helston. An application for housing on land to the north east of Helston was submitted to Cornwall County Council in August 2014. The Partnership appealed the application for non-determination by the Council when no decision was reached within the 13 week statutory determination period and it is expected that a Public Inquiry into the plans will take place sometime during spring 2015.
