Lavender sachets – susanblog
https://susanpblog.wordpress.com/2017/01/08/lavender-sachets
A fine WordPress.com site. January 8, 2017. January 8, 2017. I now know what my first fast project for 2017 is going to be! Little Lavender Sachet bags. I read about it in another blog today and immediately ordered some dried lavender to be delivered at my new address. I am also going to embroider a pretty cross stitch design before assembling it – knowing me a cat of some sorts 🙂. But I can plan and be prepared. And it is nice to know what I want to start on 🙂 And lots more ideas here. You are comment...
SAL update – susanblog
https://susanpblog.wordpress.com/2016/12/18/sal-update-6
A fine WordPress.com site. December 18, 2016. December 22, 2016. Since the last SAL update school closed for the Christmas holiday and I am organising to move. The moving company dropped off some boxes for me and the supermarket gave me a whole pile of newspapers to use for the packing. I made lists of jobs to do and love ticking off the stuff I’ve done. I’ve also found a new embroidery SAL and love it. It is called the Never-ending Sampler. Please pop over and have a look at the work of my SAL friends:.
Spinzilla Part 1 – astitchornine
https://astitchornine.com/2016/10/05/spinzilla-part-1
October 5, 2016. October 4, 2016. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Spinzilla, it’s a week for burnt thumbs, sore shoulders and empty-looking stashes as you spin as much fibre as you can in a week. That’s why Day 1 of spinning time turned into Day 1 of fibre prep time. The mulberry silk is handpainted with acid dyes and I’ve blended it 50/50 with some various dyed merino. This is actually one of the first pieces of silk I ever dyed and I’ve been trying to think of a way to use it for somethin...
Please Mind the Gap – astitchornine
https://astitchornine.com/2016/11/30/please-mind-the-gap
Please Mind the Gap. November 30, 2016. It has been far too long since I’ve had chance to update my blog thanks to a rather excessive amount of international travel. I’ve blogged before about the joys and tribulations of travel and how to try and find ways to stop all your craft projects getting lost in work-in-progress (WIP) oblivion while on the road but I really need to learn to take my own advice. I don’t really have any deadlines for most of my pieces, except some exam preparation to finish for next...

Taipei and Yongle Textile Market. January 11, 2017. January 10, 2017. Being a tourist is often regarded as one of the most morally reprehensible things a person can be. No one wants to be the hapless soul, guide book in one hand, oversized Canon camera round the neck, clogging up the pavement taking photos of the local highlights, such as cracks in the concrete and public benches. I ended up doing two separate tours with My Taiwan Tour. The first of the two tours was the Vintage Taipei tour, which covers...

Durham isn’t often a city I end up passing through, which is a bit of a shame as it’s home to one of the nicest embroidery studios I’ve ever seen, belonging to Tracy A Franklin. What’s the difference between goldwork and creative metalwork? Creative metalwork essentially makes use of goldwork techniques...

Jacobean Crewelwork: Day 5. February 15, 2017. February 14, 2017. Another day at the Royal School of Needlework for me, to do battle with the beast that is my Jacobean crewelwork. At the end of the last class, I had rather a lot of homework that mostly involved meters of raised stem band. While I had managed to get some of it done, there was still rather a lot to go and, as tends to happen with these things, life somewhat got in the way. Read More ». February 8, 2017. October 2016 – astitchornine
https://astitchornine.com/2016/10
October 9, 2016. October 10, 2016. At the beginning of Spinzilla, I was busy preparing some fibre for actually getting on with some spinning. By the end of Spinzilla, I had one finished skein to admire! This is the 50/50 silk/merino that you can see some of the preparation for here. It’s a little uneven and bulkier than I had originally intended but I absolutely love the colour. It’s a really lofty, shiny yarn with some good snuggle factor as well. Read More ». October 5, 2016.
