Wednesday, June 28, 2006. This morning I took my measurements for the first time since May. I have lost 3 pounds in that time, but gained almost 3 inches in the waist and 2 inches in the bust! Tuesday, May 29, 2007. We just returned from a trip to Idaho, to see my little sister Mollie (from the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program while I was in Boise) graduate from high school, and to introduce Will to my friends and family there. Friday, December 08, 2006. So my grandma is very close to dying right now, either today or tomorrow. It is such an odd thing for me, to have this new life growing inside me and preparing for that, and then knowing that my grandma's life is about to come to an end. I wrote a poem about her. Last night most of her kids and some of her grandkids slept on the floor around her bed, and the power of that image struck me. How fortunate she is, to die surrounded by people who love her. Shakes her head, and says.

I am writing a long poem with multiple sections about the sex of our baby, a compilation of all the stories and old wives tales that people tell us, the crazy things they say like if you are tired in the morning you are having a boy. Yesterday I wrote a section about how I imagine it would be to have a boy. I thought I saw you today. Five years from now, counting. The sparkles on Jenny Lake. At your age I roamed this shore. Friday, April 27, 2007. I just finished a new video of Will for the month of April. John's parents are here, which has been so much fun already. Will just smiles and smiles at his grandma. Yesterday we went to the Winchester Mystery House and Will and I walked around the grounds while the rest of the family went in. We also took him to a restaurant (Marie Calendars) for the first time.
