How The West Was Blogged. One Gal Watching Classic Westerns for the Very First Time. Preface to The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. August 6, 2013. I’ve decided to kick-off this blog with an inaugural viewing of John For d’s 1962 classic. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Before I actually discuss the film in my next post, I want to do a little preface:. Very little). Should I assume that readers, on the other hand, are familiar with them? Probably not, unless someone distributes this link to a local VFW).

How The West Was Blogged. One Gal Watching Classic Westerns for the Very First Time. My entire life I’ve always been on the periphery of Westerns. Growing up in the 90’s, I would groan as my father would decide that we were going to watch The Outlaw Josey Wales on cable again for the 43rd time. When. Came out when I was in high school, we had the poster hanging in our living room. But even my mom was a fan, especially with that Sam Houston and his moustache. Back to the Future Part III.

Chompin’ & Stompin’ in Cabbagetown. November 8, 2012. This past Saturday was the 10th annual Chomp and Stomp festival. In Cabbagetown. Equal parts chili cook-off and blue-grass festival, it showcases and brings together an amazing neighborhood close to downtown Atlanta while also opening its streets and joie de vivre to folks who aren’t as familiar with the quirky and charming neighborhood. Atlanta Bike Coalition had a bike valet and it was positively slammed. Quite the success:. You may use these. Passi...

Apple Pickin’ in Autumn in the Empire State. November 8, 2012. It was a ton of fun. It was my first time being in the state of New York NOT in the city, so it was interesting and refreshing to be in the more rural part of a place better known for its metropolis. Plus, there were cider donuts and turkey legs. And we got to take turns lugging around a 20 lb of freshly picked apples for a few hours. Spoils, y’all. Chompin’ & Stompin’ in Cabbagetown. About Me | haley zapal
http://haleyzapal.com/about-me
Another huge passion in life has always been music, and in college I was first a disc jockey at WUOG 90.5 and later programming director for the station. In Atlanta, I am on the board of directors for Girls Rock Camp Atlanta, a weeklong summer camp where girls pick up guitars and drumsticks and form a band. Some of my interests:. Culinary history. Lately, I’m on a spice kick, and I don’t really enjoy new stuff unless it’s scaldingly spicy. My delightfully grumpy orange tabby cat, Wilma. You may use these.

Quite a Workout in Piedmont Park. November 11, 2012. My favorite shot is most definitely the wide-angle view of Selyka sprinting with the work-out parachute. Talk about speed! I can barely run with just my legs, let alone the pressure of wind-drag pulling behind me. It was very neat being able to witness a person in absolutely peak physical shape–and telling ‘em to work out more! It was almost like I had a brief one-hour stint as a personal trainer. More pullups! Can you run that 50yrds one more time?

How the west was climbed
How the west was climbed. Climbing and adventure in the great west. Adventure is just over the horizon. The Journey begins here. Friday, January 21, 2011. Flatirons on New Years Eve. Well, it seems that the new year is off to a good start here in Colorado. I've been getting out some to shoot photos and climb also when the weather allows. A few days ago I woke up super early and drove over to Estes Park hoping to get some good sunrise shots of the St Malo Chapel. On the Cerro Pallone. Best of luck! The we...

How The West Wasn't Worn
How The West Wasn't Worn. Western fashion is in a serious decline. We find it appalling that major western wear makers are making items that are nearly indistinguishable from those made by brands like Ed Hardy, Affliction and Tapout. Saturday, February 4, 2012. I hate to pop back in on the very same topic I left you all on but I'm going to go ahead and do it anyway. Flotsam from ' Cowgirl I Am'. I think this one wins because there isn't a single western element in it that I can identify. And doesn't it d...
