Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever." -Paul. I read: 1 Kings 17-19. Finally a break from the bling-bling and the "and he killed this dude and took over as king" stuff! A holy man. When you speak, God speaks- a true word! That's why we're the church, the bride of God. I think that makes a worthy prayer: that our speech is God's speech and that our hearts match the heart of God. Not an easy prayer, one that we will fa...

Friday, September 27, 2013. Development vs. Relief. Much has been wr. We have far from figured this out, but we are willing to learn as we go and encourage others to do the same. We hope all missionaries and NGOs, living in or traveling to Haiti will consider their ultimate goals for our Haitian neighbors and in all things they do think about longevity, and whether what they are doing is helping or hurting. Embrace Haiti: March Trip 2014
http://www.embracehaiti.org/2014/06/march-trip-2014.html
Monday, June 2, 2014. It was a motley crew that ventured to Haiti this spring break. There were seven of us—two teachers, a pediatrician and her sixteen-year old son, a tech person, and a pastor. Only two of us had been to Haiti previously and I was one of the five who had no idea what they were getting into. I had to look up Haiti on a map. We were fortunate enough to be the first group to stay with our mission partners in their new location, which was a beautiful oasis in Cap-Haitien. It’s equall...

Thursday, February 2, 2012. Adult Education - New Initiative. Upon announcing the Adult Education Initiative within the village last month, we very quickly had 50 men and women registered to attend these classes for basic literacy and math. We believe they would have kept coming, but this is the maximum size for our first class. It's encouraging to see their desire to learn. They are responsible for supplying their own pencil and notebooks and we supply the teachers. A Day of Thanks. Some perhaps a littl...

Thursday, October 27, 2011. Experiences Not Soon Forgot (October 2011 Trip). How do you begin to describe one of the best weeks of your life by trying to squeeze it in to a few short paragraphs? That's the problem - words can't do justice to the experience that Haiti gives you. I've said it before and I will say it again: people go to Haiti thinking they are going to work on Haiti, but the reality is Haiti ends up working on you! We visited people in and around the village in an effort to build relations...
