Somewhere West of The 405: Drinks on Fridays
http://somewherewestofthe405.blogspot.com/2013/12/drinks-on-fridays.html
Thursday, December 12, 2013. The Friday after Thanksgiving I saw Sidney. It was the third year in a row I saw him the day after Thanksgiving. Even though he now resides in Reno, it was the second time I saw him in November. We went to The Bruery. In Placentia. They have a lot of sour beers. While that is great for people like Sidney who enjoy them, I did not like them. These are the beers I had in my flight with my comments:. Loakal Red - Oak-aged American red ale (good, but not great). Some of my friends.

Friday, November 29, 2013. The Old SQL and Little Saigon. Since Thanksgiving was yesterday, today is a big day for leftovers. Here is a post I wrote in June. It was almost finished when I first wrote it, but it never got published. Since it has some good links and the content is interesting, you might enjoy it. The MySQL 4 database I had to save is for the. The political magazine I wrote for in college. Their website and online presence never recovered from my graduation. See the website now. Getting eve...

Somewhere West of The 405: June 2013
http://somewherewestofthe405.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 27, 2013. I received a few emails this week. I have been accepted to the masters in electrical engineering program at Long Beach. First, I got an email saying "Thank you for choosing 'The Beach'" which contained instructions on how to register for classes. Next, I looked online and it seemed I had already accepted the offer of admission I was never offered and was listed as a masters student. Then, I got another email today with an official acceptance letter. Saturday, June 22, 2013. The m...

Somewhere West of The 405: Living the Life
http://somewherewestofthe405.blogspot.com/2014/03/living-life.html
Sunday, March 30, 2014. I am happy with the way a lot of things are going. I have been busy doing great things. This is my spring break, so I am getting caught up on things. I watched the last couple of episodes of Justified. Which I enjoyed a lot. I am taking three classes this semester. Microfabrication and Nanotechnology is my favorite class this semester. It explains how to manufacture integrated circuits. It covers the process of cleaning silicon wafers, growing silicon dioxide, using photol...I was...

Somewhere West of The 405: December 2012
http://somewherewestofthe405.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 31, 2012. Through the Bible in a year. The week before Christmas I finished reading the Bible. This project started in January when Amanda made this post. My general comments are:. The Old Testament/Hebrew Scriptures could have used a good copy editor. Things are out of order, repeated, contradict each other, and make for a very boring read in several places. There are some unappreciated things in the New Testament. Now I am working on some summary sheets with a few comments on the minor...

Long walks on concrete. February 9, 2012. The CSA check is in the mail, but winter is still in the air. So for now, I will not be making delicious things out of vegetables in a box, but there is nothing at all that says I can’t get ready. I’ve heard that two things in particular show themselves in abundance in CSA boxes around these parts: greens and peaches. From 101 cookbooks: Winter Pasta. Poached Eggs Over Rice. From SmittenKitchen: Baked Kale Chips. Barley Risotto with Beans and Greens. I don’...

Long walks on concrete. January 17, 2013. I’m as happy as a turkey on Boxing Day. This huge ridiculous pile of things I couldn’t care less about. Long ago. (Anyone feel me out there? Has two coats must share with anyone who has none. I do have another coat. It’s a perfectly fine coat and has kept me toasty through four (or so) winters. I appreciate this other coat greatly. I thank it for its service. But it’s Boxing Day around here. Coat has to go. How to give them away and then. Actually go do it. IR...

Long walks on concrete. Monthly Archives: July 2012. July 31, 2012. Eggplant Pasta and CSA box round-up. I am totally in love with my CSA box. Every week, like magic, a whole new cornucopia appears just around the corner, with my name on it. It’s wonderful what beautiful and delicious things the earth can make, when people know how to do it. Earth’s Bounty: Exhibit A. Oh, there were lots of cucumbers, and I made this salad. And then I dreamt about it. Highly recommend. And today, I made some sautéed eggp...
