Iron Acres Now: May 2009
http://ironacresnow.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2009. Sometimes the things we want most in life are the things that will kill us." Donald Miller, Blue Like Jazz. In Blue Like Jazz, Donald Miller writes about the struggle we all have with accepting grace. I love to give to charity, but I don't want to be charity. This is why I have so much trouble with grace. I am too prideful to accept the grace of God. It isn't that I want to earn my own way to give something to God, it's that I want to earn my own way so I won't be charity. Yea doubt...

Iron Acres Now: June 2009
http://ironacresnow.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 25, 2009. Solitude- The creation of an open, empty space in our lives by purposefully abstaining from interaction with other human beings, so that, freed from competing loyalties, we can be found by God." Life With God Bible. For the past few days I have been attending a Renovare conference in San Antonio, Texas. The first night we were presented with an important question, what did you come here for? That question persisted in my mind as I returned to my room that night. I come here for?

Iron Acres Now: April 2009
http://ironacresnow.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,. Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,. And when we find ourselves in the place just right,. Twill be in the valley of love and delight.". For 16 years I lived my dream of having a hobby farm. I faced the learning curve of animal husbandry with childish delight as a succession of creatures- honeybees, chickens, ducks, geese, llamas, horses, goats- came under my care. That, and the arrival of grandchildren. Then he s...

Iron Acres Now: August 2009
http://ironacresnow.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Last night I was reminded of St. Patrick's Breastplate, a beautiful prayer that speaks of the presence of Christ in my life:. And Christ to right. Christ within both day and night. Technology has made it possible to reach out to each other on the internet as this post did for me today. The picture of a young father holding his newborn spoke volumes to me about the fatherhood of God, especially the tender love He has for me in my weakness and vulnerability. In a new way today.

Iron Acres Now: Struggling
http://ironacresnow.blogspot.com/2010/02/struggling.html
Wednesday, February 17, 2010. I awoke this morning from a bad dream. A dream about struggle and overcoming evil that would not die. I wondered what evil in my heart is winning a battle for my soul. The dream gave my morning prayer more conviction,. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit." Psalm 51:10-12 (KJV). A Prayer for En...

Iron Acres Now: November 2009
http://ironacresnow.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 26, 2009. It's Not About Turkey and Football. It's not about turkey and football, although those have been the main ingredients of most of my 60something Thanksgivings. It's about giving. And thanks. We are nourished by the giving and the gratefulness even more than we are nourished by the turkey and dressing and pumpkin pie. Our souls are nourished by God. It is in the giving of thanks that we acknowledge the existence of the One who formed us. The One who gives life. His love for us.

http://ironacresimages.blogspot.com/2010/03/ballad-of-trees-and-master.html
Tuesday, March 23, 2010. The Ballad of Trees and the Master. A Ballad of Trees and the Master. INTO the woods my Master went,. Clean forspent, forspent. Into the woods my Master came,. Forspent with love and shame. But the olives they were not blind to Him;. The little gray leaves were kind to Him. The thorn-tree had a mind to Him. When into the woods He came. Out of the woods my Master went,. And He was well content. Out of the woods my Master came,. Content with death and shame. In a Soft Light. As a c...

Edelweiss Cowgirl: Up In the Air
http://edelweisscowgirl.blogspot.com/2010/07/up-in-air.html
Monday, July 26, 2010. Up In the Air. Anyone who knows me well knows I'm not particularly fond of heights. That being said, I still got a kick out of taking the chair lift up to the town (village? Thats funny; I am afraid of heights, too. Why did we both move to the mountains? Maybe were afraid of heights because we grew up in Houston, where the only tall places are buildings. Monday, July 26, 2010 5:08:00 PM. I can handle gondolas for the most part, but I find Im getting worse with age. Up In the Air.
