The Godfather part II – Kevin Williams
https://kevinwilliamshousing.wordpress.com/2015/07/14/the-godfather-part-ii
I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. The Godfather part II. July 14, 2015. July 19, 2015. So firstly, a great response to my first ever blog yesterday. Thank you so much to those who took the time out to read and comment. As I went to bed last night though, I couldn’t sleep as my mind was swirling with various points people had been making on Twitter in response. It got me thinking. Is our issue that the problem is also the answer? I read a blog by Paul Taylor ( here. If we are going to do the ̵...

Back to the future – Kevin Williams
https://kevinwilliamshousing.wordpress.com/2015/08/02/back-to-the-future
I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. Back to the future. August 2, 2015. August 3, 2015. Our own Prime Minister recently referred to immigrants as a ‘swarm’. They are people, not insects. But anyway, that’s enough on immigration, I’ve gone off on a tangent. I mused whether it was because of the growth of the internet and the constant daily bombardment of ‘bad news’ from around the world? Jacqui said she had been thinking about the same issue and was wondering whether what is happening is actually a ...

The Godfather – Time to make them an offer they can’t refuse – Kevin Williams
https://kevinwilliamshousing.wordpress.com/2015/07/13/time-to-make-them-an-offer-they-cant-refuse
I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. The Godfather – Time to make them an offer they can’t refuse. July 13, 2015. August 25, 2015. I’ve been contemplating starting a blog for quite a while but just haven’t got around to it. As an avid user of Twitter, I finally realised that 140 characters just isn’t sufficient to do my thoughts justice. On Thursday morning I read Nick Atkins piece in Inside Housing ( here. I guess I knew our house was rented but that was as far as it went. Anyway, continuing with t...

A #CommsHero for a week – Kevin Williams
https://kevinwilliamshousing.wordpress.com/2015/08/10/a-commshero-for-a-week
I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. A #CommsHero for a week. August 10, 2015. So in this one, I want to consider how we can engage the general public in the debate on #ukhousing and stop being so insular with our conversations. First let me take you on a brief journey as to how I came to be considering this. Asif also said to use the opportunity to promote my blog. Never one to miss an opportunity I shamelessly made several plugs throughout the week. There have been numerous points made over the pa...

I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. A bit about me. Hi I’m Kevin and thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. It’s affordable Jim, but not as we know it! – Kevin Williams
https://kevinwilliamshousing.wordpress.com/2015/07/20/its-affordable-jim-but-not-as-we-know-it
I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. It’s affordable Jim, but not as we know it! July 20, 2015. September 18, 2015. For this one, I thought I would tackle the thorny issue of Affordable Rent. This will cost a fortune in a few years! 8221; Fortunately the Government had a plan – we just weren’t privy to it. Providers were also permitted to convert existing properties from social rent to Affordable Rent at the point they became empty to generate additional subsidy to be used to build more new homes.

Shiny fluff – Kevin Williams
https://kevinwilliamshousing.wordpress.com/2015/07/15/shiny-fluff
I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. July 15, 2015. July 18, 2015. This blog is all about leadership – honestly! So straight to it. What is shiny fluff? Shiny fluff apparently is what I do. It’s what I’m attracted to. It’s the hairbrained ideas that sometimes come off but other times are a distraction. It’s the nice, new, shiny thing that drags your attention away from the mundane. Some people might know it by other names such as innovation or having ideas. Bread and butter she replied! We had to wo...

What lies beneath – Kevin Williams
https://kevinwilliamshousing.wordpress.com/2015/07/17/what-lies-beneath
I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. July 17, 2015. July 22, 2015. I have tattoo’s so I must be a thug. I wear glasses (and contacts) so I must be rubbish at sport. I support Man Utd so I must be from down South – that one’s for the bitters🙂. This one’s about stigma and stereotyping. Maybe it’s just my paranoia creeping in. When we get a heavily tattooed Prime Minister I’ll know it’s ok. Does it make you less competent in your job? But we do apply stigma as a society all the time, whether it be to ...

Thinking inside the box – Kevin Williams
https://kevinwilliamshousing.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/thinking-inside-the-box
I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. Thinking inside the box. August 17, 2015. August 19, 2015. It was pointed out to me recently that as someone who is supposed to be responsible for development, I haven’t really written anything on my blog about it. I think I’ve been rumbled……. Unfortunately, time and again we miss this standard at the point of handover due to being let down by the contractor. This is all despite the best efforts of my super team who get as frustrated as I do with the situatio...

Corporation pop – Kevin Williams
https://kevinwilliamshousing.wordpress.com/2015/07/27/corporation-pop
I think therefore I blog. A bit about me. July 27, 2015. July 27, 2015. Opinion was divided on my previous blog post ( here. When I raised the question of whether we should drop the word ‘social’ from ‘social housing’. Here I’m going to build on this point and ask how important brand is. On balance I would say that the majority of comments I received were in favour of making the change with a common point made that the word social has become ‘toxic’ when used in front of housing. I don’t believe so.
