Christmas in Langstrasse | Jacob Balzani Lööv | Photography Blog
http://blog.jacobbalzaniloov.com/langstrasse
I’ve spent a funny night playing with my camera, around Christmas, in the most lionezed street of Switzerland: Langstrasse in Zürich. In its own existence Langstrasse seems to contradict many stereotypes about the country. The district is highly multicultural, coloured neons bright up the scene of clubs, drugs and prostitution on the streets once inhabited by immigrant workers during industrial times and a propelling centre for workers rights and social justice. The Spirit of Rugby | Jacob Balzani Lööv | Photography Blog

The Spirit of Rugby. Police is always pleasantly surprised to witness such a large number of people enduring so much high-octane partying with relatively very few incidents. Some broken arms and waist, since sand is not forgiving. But this is the rugby way: 32 teams of players, some meeting for the first time, others renewing old acquaintances, united under Islay spirit and rugby ethos because, as they like to say, rugby is a hooligan’s game played by gentlemen. Valgrande: a Rite | Jacob Balzani Lööv | Photography Blog
http://blog.lordcob.com/valgrande-a-rite
It is the 10th time we descended into Valgrande. It was October and the first snow melted to let us through. Following the same steps, lighting the same stoves, bathing in the same pound. Among changing, light, weather and revolutions it is the repetition that define rituals. Be there. Be somewhere. Greetings to Ivan wherever he is. By: Jacob Balzani Lööv. The Spirit of Rugby. If one Christmas Day is not enough, just move to some Christian Orthodox countries to celebrate it twice. According to the older Julian Calendar (the one without leap day or 29th of February) used by the Orthodox Churches, Christmas Eve is on the 6th of January and Christmas is on the 7th. I spent my second Christmas in Sumy, a city 300 km East of Kiev. Koliada. By: Jacob Balzani Lööv. The Spirit of Rugby. Newer: Another ruined paradise. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. The unexpected | Jacob Balzani Lööv | Photography Blog

Sometimes I just have to leave the ordinary for a place where I have never been to rediscover the nomadic explorer which resides in me. It doesn’t have necessarily to be as far as Azerbaijan, it can be just a hidden valley an hour drive away from my italian home to trigger the same happiness. Tired of the city life in Baku, while gathering some pictures about the election in Azerbaijan. By: Jacob Balzani Lööv. The Spirit of Rugby. Older: Do you want to dance? Newer: A weekend in Abkhazia.
