Thursday, June 25, 2015. There were tons of cool plants at Sundew Prarie this week. I wish I had taken more pictures. This Spotted Sandpiper followed us around for a while. Aletris farinosa (white colicroot). Lysimachia terrestris (earth loosestrife). Drosera intermedia (spatulate leaf sundew). Houstonia caerulea (azure bluet). Polygala sanguinea (purple milkwort). Juncus brachycarpus (white-root rush). Juncus acuminatus (tapertip rush). Lobelia spicata (palespike lobelia). Get Your Botany On.

Sunday, June 14, 2015. Last Sunday, I had the privilege of botanizing at Morgan-Monroe with some excellent botanists. I tried to take detailed notes, pictures, and to remember everything. Alas, it is still a work in progress. Staminate spikes seem to get no love. C. careyana. The reddish base of C. careyana. The hidden spikes of C. digitalis. The male scales appear to be acute, not obtuse like in C. cumberlandensis. Overall plant picture of C. laxiflora. The gracefully drooping spikes of C. gracillima.

Friday, June 26, 2015. Here he is right after Ben brought him home. It had rained earlier in the morning so Pete was very wet and pretty sad looking. After a bath and some food, Pete was feeling better and looking cuter. We took the opportunity to train Laney to sit still by placing Pete on her back. Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Yesterday was the 10th Anniversary of the blog. Time flies by. Things and technology change. Over that time, we've had 1202 posts, which averages out to a post every three days or so. Our first post. Was of our first pair of rats. Here are some pictures from yesterday, where I spent the day exploring woods and sinkholes in southern Kentucky. Purple Cliffbrake (Pellaea atropurpurea) growing on the rocks above the rise of a perennial stream from a hillside opening.
