Day by day 24/7. Monday, October 01, 2012. Last day of September. Foreign language is so important to me, and finding a Japanese class for her at all in Toronto was surprisingly VERY difficult. I feel like our daily schedule is laid out now. While Willow is at school, Orson and I either explore the nearby community or visit a park or hang out at the local drop in centers. (More on "drop in centers" later.). This a bad picture, but she taught part of the crowd how to dance like they used to back in the da...

Day by day 24/7. Monday, October 11, 2010. Donguri is the Japanese word for Acorn and right now it's Willow's favorite toy. It's also donguri season now. There are many, MANY different Oak trees where we live and everywhere we go Willow wants to stop and gather donguri. I don't even think she knows the word "acorn.". As you can see there are many different kinds of Japanese acorns, comprising many shapes, textures and colors from deep brown to bright chartreuse. All of them are quite beautiful. Parenting...

Day by day 24/7. Wednesday, June 02, 2010. Little Willow got her first skinned knee today. She was such a big girl about it. She frowned but picked herself back up and kept on walking. I hope that as an adult she will have the same resiliency. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Life of an American mommy living in Japan. Enjoying Noah's observation day at the local elementary school. Day by day 24/7. Thursday, May 19, 2011. Hankfully Jeff gets a week off work for the Japanese holiday of 'golden week.' This is much needed time off so that we can continue to adjust to life in Japan post the quake/ meltdown. However, we also prioritized having enjoying life as well! We all took long bike rides throughout the city. When we travel by bike as a family, Orson rides with me in the front bike seat/ basket and Willow rides with Jeff in a rear bike seat. Don't let the Kappa get you! In the wood...

Day by day 24/7. Sunday, April 15, 2012. Saitama Children's Zoo and other zoo trips while in Japan. Worth it. And we almost always snag a priority seat space which is just perfect for a family of two parents and two toddlers. Furthermore, Willow LOVES getting on buses, she always has ever since she was old enough to start yelling "Basu! Whenever she saw one. . . which was at about the age that Orson is now, although he isn't talking at all just yet. No worries. Here's a map of the Saitama Children's Zoo.

Day by day 24/7. Sunday, October 28, 2012. Mimi's Rainy day Halloween surprise! We recently got a package from Mimi! It was just what we needed on a rainy afternoon with little to do. The bags were filled with toys, pencils and rub on tattoos in addition to edible treats! The kids had a lot of fun drumming the pencils on their Halloween cups. Willow came up with the idea of sticking her stickers on her jack o' lantern trick or treat bucket. Thanks so much Mimi, for the Halloween package! Then we went to ...
