Sunday, March 6, 2011. Posted by Kate Brooks. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I am an artist living and working in Maryland. I earned my BFA in illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2011. When the summer doldrums kick in, I take my cognac into my walk-in closet and marvels at my collection of whale bone corsets. Thursday, December 16, 2010. Well the end of the semester finally came, and I'm sure it was a welcome arrival for all. I look forward to painting a lot over the winter break (not so looking forward to my wisdom teeth extraction on Saturday), and working out my thesis project for the spring semester. :"D. And now on to the artwork:. My final assignment for my Illustrating the Edible class is posted up at the class blog. But I'll put it here as well. It's a seed packet! Shown is the front and back. Sunday, October 10, 2010. Edible Illustration: Station North Restaurant Guidebook. So these are my illustrations for a restaurant guidebook that the graphic design students will be working on. We were each assigned a specific restaurant to review and illustrate, and were also required to do a cover and a map of the area, plotting all of the restaurants reviewed in the book (about 18, I think.). http://erinraewatson.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Well, here we are. Safe and sound on the other side of the Commencement Show and Graduation! Here in the Real World! Or that's what I hear, anyway. Here is a photo of my wall at the Commencement show, taken by my stepfather, Steve. I was really lucky, and received a great spot in the main illustration gallery, sharing a little alcove with the wonderful Kelly Miller. You can see them larger in my portfolio. I was so pleased with how everything turned out! Posted by Erin Rae.

Thursday, January 27, 2011. Make way for the Troll Princess. For Fantasy Art this semester: to tackle a fantasy cliche with either hyperbole or a plain old fresh take. I wanted to do something with trolls, but as trolls aren't much of an overbearing presence in the greater part of the fantasy genre, I added the stereotype of the "warrior princess," which. Brings strong images to mind - good, bad, whatever. And so begins the last three months of school, ever. Posted by Erin Rae. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wednesday, February 24, 2010. My final image for the Words on Wheels. Program, sans the poster template and the poem. I was pleasantly surprised by the poem I received. It was about one's self-image, and not listening to the people who strive to bring you down and make you think less of yourself, but trusting who you. Are I thought it was kind of cool that a fifth grader wrote that. I don't remember being that self-aware when I was 10. Posted by Erin Rae. Inspired by my random doodling of underpants.

Thursday, January 12, 2017. Starting Back to my watercolors now that I have the feel! It's been many years, to the point where I had to replace all my Watercolor tubes. I taught myself watercolor and sketching when my children were little, just babes in arms. A break or a escape just for me. It was wonderful I had forgotten how it relaxes me. I may throw these on my Etsy as well to supplement the cost of paints and paper. Random paintings, originals! Have a great day,. Sunday, January 1, 2017. The word t...

Plant Chronicles and Fancies. July 1, 2014. Plant Chronicles and Fancies —. 8220;Chronicles” and “fancies” — these two words describe the contradictions of my experience as a garden writer over the last 15 years.
