Idle Thoughts: May 2003
http://papayagirl1982.blogspot.com/2003_05_01_archive.html
Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving." -A Hat Full Of Sky, Terry Pratchett. Saturday, May 31, 2003. Emily and i dropped by our apartment and let ourselves in. For the first time! Can you tell i'm really excited about this whole -i have my own apartment and my own space- thing? Grinning from ear to ear-. Dan a...

http://steflenz.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
I am a part of all that I have met. Friday, October 30, 2009. A lot of people in medicine right now are really pushing the idea of personalized care, meaning that we can sequence everyone’s DNA genome and therefore know exactly what disease they have, what kind of medication would work best, in what amount, and what kind of effect it will have. There are some great benefits to this! Who would have access to the genomic info of another person? So to return back to Jonathan’s initial questions, havin...

I am a part of all that I have met. Tuesday, May 26, 2009. There are many, but here are a few things I've learned, or at least thought more about, over the last year:. 2) God's plan is always good, but that doesn't mean it isn't sometimes terrifying. I spent a solid two weeks feeling almost convinced that God was calling me into full time ministry rather then med school. 8) Voicing expectations of others, and needs for myself is necessary to healthy relationships. 10) People pleasing is dangerous ground ...

I am a part of all that I have met. Monday, October 5, 2009. Stolen Bikes and Starbucks Seats. And I gave him some medical fact before going on. It's tov, very tov! Thanks for this thoughtful post, Stef! I didnt know your bike got stolen. Thats terrible! I think it should be routine for people with decently-priced bikes to buy insurance which covers theft. That way it wouldnt be such a big deal if one got stolen. October 6, 2009 at 11:22 AM. October 6, 2009 at 6:53 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I am a part of all that I have met. Monday, September 14, 2009. I live a little under a mile away from Howard University Hospital. One of the things this particular hospital is known for is its excellent trauma department. I hear ambulances with blaring sirens going down the main street near my apartment all the time. At least one per hour, I would estimate, and sometimes more depending on the day and time. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Fables of the reconstruction.

I am a part of all that I have met. Thursday, July 2, 2009. Lateral Lines and Panda Bears. Have you ever seen a big school of fish swim. They all swim together, making the slightest turns in perfect unison. They can do this because they have a sense organ called the lateral line that detects vibration and movement in the water. This way, fish avoid collisions and orient themselves with the flow of the current. Why can't people walk more orderly? Imagine that said in a mixed tone of sarcasm and whine).

koinonia: Bright Lights
http://steflenz.blogspot.com/2009/09/bright-lights.html
I am a part of all that I have met. Wednesday, September 2, 2009. In an effort to focus on the blessings I have/am being given, and to remember how God defines himself for us as being always enough, here are some "bright lights" from daily life in DC. (this is in opposition to the moping around that I've been doing recently). Sunrise at 6:08 am. True, it is early. But I enjoy my morning time of drinking coffee, reading some Words, and getting ready to face the day. This is probably my favorite part of th...

koinonia: Flash Forward: medical technology and life abundant
http://steflenz.blogspot.com/2010/01/i-just-finished-watching-new-years.html
I am a part of all that I have met. Friday, January 1, 2010. Flash Forward: medical technology and life abundant. I'm drawn back to the same tension I've thought, blogged, and talked about before. The process of researching, discovering, and inventing new technology also teaches us new things about ourselves, the world, and environment (and, I would say, sometimes even about our God). But I don't think that new technology is always the answer. I don't think that changing our genes is necessarily bett...
