Just another WordPress.com site. Archive April, 2011. What needs to change? In my blog this week I would like to come to a conclusion about points I’ve made in previous blogs and how some of these points can be incorporated into education today to ensure that children today get the most from their education. I believe that there are several things which could be adapted to improve the learning experience. Create a free website or blog at WordPress.com.

using break time rewards | kaypsu88f
https://kaypsu88f.wordpress.com/2011/03/01/using-break-time-rewards
Just another WordPress.com site. Using break time rewards. This idea of taking a break when a student produces a good piece of work should mean that students become more motivated to achieve good quality work in order to achieve the reward of a break. Therefore this is essentially a great idea because it should theoretically improve student’s progress and that’s all teachers want at the end of the day. However this idea does have its issues. Does motivation really affect learning? March 6, 2011 at 3:38 pm.

Just another WordPress.com site. Archive March, 2011. Small group sessions in class. In my talk this week I discussed the idea of using small group sessions in classes. I’m just going to recap on some of the points I made. What do you think of my Ideas? Are there improvements that you think should be made? The main message of this blog is we do need to aim higher, what do you think? Does motivation really affect learning? There is still need for more research here because it is very clear here that effec...

Just another WordPress.com site. Educating for Peace Can we stop the bullies? March 7, 2011. 8212; Abi M @ 2:53 pm. I attended the talk on educating people about the effects of bullying and whether this would help to reduce bullying in schools. The debate that followed was very intense and informative. In my experience I was bullied quite badly, which I will not put online but if you wish to discuss further you can email me (psu883). I think that it would be niave to think that bullies will not find ...

Just another WordPress.com site. Laquo; Educational supplements! Many of our blogs and speeches have raised the question of whether students get anything from teaching to the test. Bjork (1994) states that the ultimate goal of any form of training or education is its generalisation to other scenarios. Perhaps the best speech to address this was Emily. However, is there a way to speed up the generalisation of information into new contexts? You can follow any responses to this entry through RSS 2.0. Enter ...

Just another WordPress.com site. Sorry about the late post! Are students taught to be helpless? March 10, 2011. Over the last few weeks, there has been a lot of discussion on how to create more life-long learners and self regulated learners, with a lot of interesting suggestions being voiced. I wonder however whether the reason that many students don’t become self regulated learners is due to feeling helpless in terms of their education? Even labels such as you’re a ‘creative’ student might make students...

Just another WordPress.com site. Laquo; WEEK 9: Learning outside of the classroom. Week 11: A review. March 30, 2011 by annalouise90. There are many reasons why teachers might issue homework such as reinforcing what was taught in class, preparing students for an upcoming class, getting students to generalise what they learnt to new tasks and situations, or applying a number of skills learnt in class to a single task. A 2009 review. Other studies into the effectiveness of homework on performance include:.

Just another WordPress.com site. Parent Involvement →. March 21, 2011. Independent schools often use small class sizes as a selling point to prospective parents (sometimes with classes as small as 8 per teacher) and state schools are often critisised as having classes that are too big (sometimes as high as 32). With some of our university classes especially in 1st and 2nd year had as many as 300 students per teacher, so I’m interested to find out if class size matters. View all posts by psu887 →. March 2...

Just another WordPress.com site. Learning Techniques →. March 28, 2011. Unsurprising to me at least, the first paper I read supports what I already thought about parental involvement. Fehrmann, Keith and Reimers in 1987 found that parental involvement directly improves grades but also has a beneficial indirect effect by reducing the time spent watching television, and encouraging more time spent on homework, resulting in better grades for the child. 8221;).
