Coming Back Crazy: November 2010
http://jenkaz.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Returning to America after living abroad. Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Learning to live my life to make me happy. I don’t have an answer for this. I think partly I find happiness in making other people happy (not healthy! Also, I know that I personally like to be surrounded by people at times. What I don’t understand is why a reasonable person like me would knowingly have these types of relationships with people. Do I feel that I don’t deserve to have happiness? So what is the solution?

Coming Back Crazy: A Guide to Winter in Siberia
http://jenkaz.blogspot.com/2009/12/guide-to-winter-in-siberia.html
Returning to America after living abroad. Thursday, December 17, 2009. A Guide to Winter in Siberia. Another thing you will see old people wearing in the city is valenki, which are these really warm boots made out of felt/wool which look like giant casts. In Kazakhstan people are pretty stylish so you see a lot of really classy/flashy fur coats and hats. And of course the stereotypical Russian hat known as the Ushanka with the big ear flaps. THE MORAL OF THE STORY. It was plus ten today here.

Coming Back Crazy: Stranger in a Familiar Land
http://jenkaz.blogspot.com/2010/10/stranger-in-familiar-land.html
Returning to America after living abroad. Monday, October 11, 2010. Stranger in a Familiar Land. There are many aspects of my Peace Corps experience that I cannot talk about with others. It’s not because they don’t care (which many people don’t), it’s just that they don’t get it. And how could they? How can you explain to someone how it feels to attend your first local party and speak in exclusively Russian? Or what the sensation of negative forty degrees Celsius feels like on your exposed cheeks? Just d...

Coming Back Crazy: Gender Norms: I Can Do What A Man Can?
http://jenkaz.blogspot.com/2010/10/gender-norms-i-can-do-what-man-can.html
Returning to America after living abroad. Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Gender Norms: I Can Do What A Man Can? One of the aspects of life in Kazakhstan I always struggled with was the rigid gender norms that govern the society. Women and men had very defined roles in daily life and were often penalized if they deviated from these roles. What happened to me? October 26, 2010 at 12:24 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Returning to America after living abroad. Monday, October 25, 2010. Back in the D: Two Different Neighborhoods and Hope. Since I have come back from the Peace Corps I have not actually gone into the city of Detroit. Mexicantown completely changed my previous beliefs about the city of Detroit. The community showed me that Detroit has a lot of promise and that wonderful people are working constantly to bring Detroit back to its previous glory. Last Friday I had the chance to go back into the city, ...I vis...
