Svea's GOVT 2305 Blog. Saturday, March 12, 2011. Obama’s Social Security Hoax: Charles Krauthammer. Krauthammer not only insults the Obama Administration by claiming what they state is fraud, but Krauthammer goes so far as to say that the Obama is using Social Security as a demagogue for the 2012 elections. Republicans are trying to get real entitlement reform into the April Budget, but an ad claims they are just throwing granny out into the snow for no real reason. For a link to the full blog.

Svea's GOVT 2305 Blog. Friday, February 25, 2011. House Votes to Cut $60 Billion. The article I chose was an article about the House voting to cut $60 Billion from the federal budget. The House has a Republican majority, so there was no problem voting to approve the cut. However, the Senate is mostly Democrats, which disapprove of the cut. This disagreement could potentially create a standoff between the House and Senate. The cut will affect almost every area of government. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Our Government: April 2011

Monday, April 25, 2011. In Sarah Clifton’s editorial “TSA Troubles” she speaks about how airport pat downs are too invasive and how they haven’t brought any good results other than scaring fliers. Clifton starts off by mentioning a video that was posted up on youtube.com website showing a 6-year old girl being patted down by a TSA officer. This clearly made Americans angrier and started the dispute about the changes made at the airport security checks. To view Sarah Clifton's editorial click here.
