Two Sisters, Two bicycles - Europe 2008

Two Sisters, Two bicycles - Europe 2008. Joy also has a blog: the-life-of-joy.blogspot.com. Monday, September 29, 2008. 7950km, 17 countries - we are done. We've bundled our bikes into their (now raggedy) plastic rubbish sacks one last time and we are on our way home. We've got an hour or so remaining at Kansai airport waiting for boarding. It's fun spending the last of our japanese yen in the duty free shops! Hopefully NZ customs cooperates. And of course there are all the other european countries that ...

Two Sisters, Two bicycles - Europe 2008: May 2008

http://www.kiwicyclist.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Two Sisters, Two bicycles - Europe 2008. Joy also has a blog: the-life-of-joy.blogspot.com. Saturday, May 31, 2008. Roman city - Nimes. Our paddock-sized camp site became a paddock-sized mud-bath after it rained fairly relentlessly in the night. The pebbly/cobblestoned Italian campsites starting to look like a good idea again! I put my tent up (to dry it off) and got a few funny looks. No, I was not about to camp on the rocks, but I guess they weren't to know. Thursday, May 29, 2008. The weather forecast...

We were not at all keen to go out ın the wınd agaın so arranged to get a bus back to Goreme the next day. To get our bıkes on the mını-bus the hostel guy recommended we take the very early (6:45am) teachers bus. The next mornıng I looked out the wındow and there was a snow-capped mountaın and blue sky! Two Sisters, Two bicycles - Europe 2008. Joy also has a blog: the-life-of-joy.blogspot.com. Sunday, September 14, 2008. It was nice just wandering around London. We stumbed across a New Zealand memorial in Hyde Park Corner. It was pretty funky. I have just baked some Anzac biscuits to take to the airport tomorrow as there will be the usual waiting around. Two Sisters, Two bicycles - Europe 2008. Joy also has a blog: the-life-of-joy.blogspot.com. Monday, April 28, 2008. Under the Tuscan Skies. Everyone streamed into 'our' quiet church and we followed. The pipe organ played and there was some sort of catholic ceremony involving unveiling and praying to a dead saint (Saint Margarita). Incredible timing three times in a row. Today was another blissful but hard hilly cycling day. We've arrived in beautiful Siena and staying in a Youth Hostel. We treate...Nice ...

Two Sisters, Two bicycles - Europe 2008: February 2008

http://www.kiwicyclist.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Two Sisters, Two bicycles - Europe 2008. Joy also has a blog: the-life-of-joy.blogspot.com. Monday, February 25, 2008. A little over a week before we leave. Both our cars on sitting hopefully on Trademe; Joy is confident hers will sell before mine. Richard's bike was the weakest link, though, losing its chain onto the ground and getting a big puncture at the same time. My brother-in-law Grant still calls it "The Anchor" (I think it's about 14kg with all the racks included). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Joy's Cycle Trip In Europe: May 2008

http://the-life-of-joy.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Joy's Cycle Trip In Europe. Saturday, May 31, 2008. Yesterday we cycled from Avignon to Nimes. We stopped at Pont du Gard, an aqueduct built around 20BC - was very impressive. Lots of separate groups of New Zealanders, which was a bit random. Byrdie set her tent up to dry while we went for a walk. She got some funny looks, from people probably assuming we were going to camp there. With gladiators and bullfighters etc. then there was the Magne tower, with views over the city. Three Girls, Six Wheels

Three Girls, Six Wheels. Tuesday, 26 January 2010. Back home safe and sound. Christchurch was fun. I love the exhilaration of cycling in the city! It's like an urban jungle, dodging cars parked in the bicycle lane, feeling the traffic wooshing past, and the satisfaction of overtaking cars stopped at traffic lights. The courgettes had gone mad; huge plants occupying far more than their share of the garden! Monday, 18 January 2010. We reluctantly left the lovely hostel in Methven. It was a headwind all...

Byrdie's cycle tour of British Columbia 2010

Byrdie's cycle tour of British Columbia 2010. Back to Home page. Friday, 24 September 2010. I've just arrived in Auckland Airport and it feels so good to be back in NZ.   I had to unpack all my carefully-bundled luggage to get through Bio-Security; then pack it again to be transferred to my Rotorua flight.  Now I've got a couple of hours to wander around Auckland Airport; thank goodness for free internet! I nearly bought a pair of fashion gumboots to complement the two other pairs of shoes I have bought ...

Spain and France 2011

Spain and France 2011. Saturday, 25 June 2011. We wandered along one of the shopping promenades; browsing at the outdoors shops mainly. I came across a Glacier (icecream shop); and despite having just eaten lunch AND icecream for dessert I just had to try one of these ones as they looked like my favourite italian style gelato. I wonder what DOC in NZ would have to say if someone suggested drilling out tunnels for tourists in any of our glaciers…. Inside the ice cave they had carved out little r...Back in...

The Kiwi Cymraeg | Explorations and observations by a Kiwi becoming Welsh

Explorations and observations by a Kiwi becoming Welsh. So 2016 didn’t really turn out to be what I was expecting. I’ve made it through surgery and chemotherapy. Just a course of radiotherapy to go and I’ll be ready to tackle 2017! So did my plans to become a polyglot get put on hold? What better way to while away the hours in the Chemotherapy Unit than lots of language revision with Duolingo. My language-learning has carried on right through my treatment; in fact, it’s probably done more than anyt...
