in joma’s bakery again | words for (almost) everything
https://colouraxed.wordpress.com/2015/03/22/in-jomas-bakery-again
Words for (almost) everything. In joma’s bakery again. March 22, 2015. It’s 22 march 2015, and i am still listening to the songs i was listening to in 22 march 2011, or 22 march 2012 – the songs i listen to now, are the songs that accompanied me through the years in hwachong. Have things not changed – i read somewhere, that someone said, you should keep track of the songs that characterized the different seasons in life, and then you could look back at them, and remember things. words for (almost) everything
https://colouraxed.wordpress.com/2015/05/13/4537
Words for (almost) everything. May 13, 2015. Baking butter cake with two engineers. Studying in a room with another three. Two plays and one ball in six days, plenty of trips to the library in between. So this is oxford, 42 weeks later, i realise: it’s not for everyone, and, who said it was for me? Eight weeks is one thing. And the others – all your wants and needs and friends and people to love and places to be at. Two articles this week: one. From bi and the other. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

just another sentimental sunday | words for (almost) everything

Words for (almost) everything. Just another sentimental sunday. May 3, 2015. May 13, 2015. An afternoon rolling around the grass in yoyogi park. Sitting on roadside park benches in ho chi minh, watching the old woman collect recyclables from the nearby dustbin. Crossing the road, surrounded by hundreds of motorcycles, each jostling for their own space at the front of the traffic queue. Walking back home, with the mosque next door still lit. The sun sweeping through the walls of balliol. You are commentin...

no may day celebrations | words for (almost) everything
https://colouraxed.wordpress.com/2015/05/01/no-may-day-celebrations
Words for (almost) everything. No may day celebrations. May 1, 2015. Things that keep replaying in my head:. The long bus rides to and from phnom penh, to ho chi minh and siem reap and sihanoukville, in descending order of length. Long, meandering and uneven dirt roads through villages and fields and small water bodies. Sometimes the buses stop in between for small towns and local villages. Sometimes they stop for us to have food and stretch our legs. Clearly i am far from being a linear thinker. You are...

Words for (almost) everything. August 8, 2016. It’s early august and oxford’s quiet. The only other vac that i spent in anne’s, apart from final year easter vac, was first year winter vac and it was the absolute worst: so cold, the sun set early, seasonal affective disorder, first winter away from home (also. the last? And there was no one around, no one till january when visiting students started trickling back in from wherever they went in europe, and then friends came back. And i’ve probably jus...

Words for (almost) everything. Why colouraxed, i don’t know. i wanted something with colour, because visuals are important (i feel). and i felt if there was a nameless colour, that ambiguous one, it’d be where i was / where i am / what am i. a colour that has no name, an unknown, x. colourx. colourxed. colouraxed. so here goes. There is no need to know of names, or places, or statistics, or numbers, or identifiers. you will know if you know – that those are such plastic things. Blog at WordPress.com.

words for (almost) everything

Words for (almost) everything. April 1, 2015. April 1, 2015. Today i felt like giving someone. A hug just to thank her for being alive. Certain things about oxford i’m going to agree with. And at the Oxford Union, the debating society, I see eighteen-year-olds in tuxedos. Giving grandiose speeches on subjects they don’t understand, playing at being members of parliament, and again it seems absurd to me — but there’s a decent chance they really will be members of parliament. In joma’s bakery again.

the week starts on a sunday | words for (almost) everything
https://colouraxed.wordpress.com/2015/03/08/the-week-starts-on-a-sunday
Words for (almost) everything. The week starts on a sunday. March 8, 2015. Oxford has definitely made me more feminist. I constantly realize how easily excited i am about information and knowledge – today esther was telling me about girls from nanyang writing against graces camp, i think i was beaming with pride thinking, wow, back then we’d never think of raising our own opinions, and last year the ex-nanyang now-in-hwachong girl wrote against the sex ed issue in hwachong – progress!
