The Johnsen Crew: September 2009

Monday, September 28, 2009. Spellquizzer - Great program! This has been my struggle: We study spelling, take tests, the kids do moderate then proceed to forget everything. This just drives me crazy! We used it today and I set up the first 10 lessons in about 15 minutes. I thought this was pretty short considering a learning curve. The kids couldn't wait to "Do Spelling on the Computer.". This is a great find and I recommend it to you. It is moderately priced as well. Check it out: Spellquizzer. I believe...

The Johnsen Crew: Frankenstein - How Did I Miss This?
http://frontiermusings.blogspot.com/2010/11/frankenstein-how-did-i-miss-this.html
Saturday, November 13, 2010. Frankenstein - How Did I Miss This? Cody had to read Frankenstein for British Literature and I realized I had never read the actual book. Oh, yes, I have watched the infamous movies with the screw in the throat and the boots, but never read the original book. What a treat! I couldn't put it down. I found it fascinating how Mary Shelley portrayed the women in her book as weak and feeble, yet she was a woman ahead of her time. Her vocabulary was amazing! How do I feel about him?

Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Summer and The "B" Word. So, the "B" word (bored) is not allowed here at all this summer. I have sooo many books, cleaning and science exercises for the kiddos that I will squirm if I hear that word. But, alas, here come the pranksters, led by the Princess Belle and Dusty . . http://frontierchristianacademy.blogspot.com/2010/01/wow-what-difference.html
A Nonconventional Walk through Life. Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Well, we just started using our Workbox system today. I was a little hesitant as my dc's are a little older. But, I just have to say, "Workboxes, where have you been all my life? The system is easy and visual! We had a late start because we went over all the "how-to" directions this morning. However, once we started they have been working great! For the rest of us, Workboxes are the Bomb! Tuesday, January 05, 2010. On the Web At:. C)2009 Fron...

Frontier Christian Academy: March 2010
http://frontierchristianacademy.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
A Nonconventional Walk through Life. Saturday, March 6, 2010. We are still loving using our workbox system. I'm not such a stickler for doing the drawers in order anymore, but just that each one gets done. Now that they have the hang of things, we are getting much more done in less time. It's been a great addition. Cody and I have spent the week talking about The Scarlet Letter. We have been using Inspiration software to do our character sketches which has been great fun. Well, fun for me anyway.
