Museum Musings and More. An Exploration into the Museum World with Book Review Side Trips and the Occasional Something Else. There was an error in this gadget. Thursday, February 24, 2011. One of the stops I made in Philadelphia on Sunday was to the President's House, no not the current President, but George Washington's. I thought he lived at Mount Vernon. You might be thinking, and that would not be incorrect, but when he was President, Washington lived in Philadelphia. From the outside looking in.

The Uncataloged Museum: October 2014

Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Curating Oral History in Montreal. Several months ago, one of my mentees for this year, Catherine Charlebois of the Center for Montreal History, shared her experiences collecting oral histories. She continues the story with this long-delayed (from my end entirely) follow-up post on making those histories work in the exhibition itself. How to tell the stories using exhibition design? How to tell the stories using testimonies? In contrast, when you ended up in the neighbourhood...

The Uncataloged Museum: April 2015
http://uncatalogedmuseum.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 25, 2015. This past week, in Kyiv, Ukraine, I had the opportunity to walk through two quite incredible exhibits at the National Art Museum of Ukraine, with deputy director Yuliya Vaganova. I'll combine the two into this one post but both deserve deep attention on their own. Encourage that conversation. In part, the introductory label says,. The second exhibition, Spetsfond,. Fundamentally, I realized that these exhibits are both about power. On the one hand, they both share the horrib...

Today is holy. Keep me from taking it for granted. Laquo; once again, no. I made a mistake. June 9, 2015 by wildthane. All, an error in my calculations was brought to my attention. Therefore, I withdraw my objection to the elimination of marketing funds, as this will take the budget over the prescribed tax cap. However, I point out again that this cut would be unnecessary had the council taken the ambulance service in-house. My revised veto is as follows:. I would object to all of these modifications if ...

Friday, September 18, 2009. Curse of the Rosh Hashanah cake? The synagogue I attended growing up publishes a Jewish cookbook and the book includes a tasty, honey cake that is easy to make. Yet, for the last couple years, I've decide to make fancier, more sophisticated cakes. As you may remember, the Dorie Greenspan apple cake that I made in 2008 was a flop. The entire top of the cake stuck to the pan. You can see pictures and my open letter to Dorie Greenspan by clicking here. Tuesday, September 1, 2009.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Pumpkin Muffins. Pass it on. My daughter tells me that she loves to play the game, Telephone, at lunchtime. I can imagine a table of boisterous kindergartners sitting around the table whispering, "Pass it on," and breaking into peals of laughter. This week, I've been involved in my own game of Telephone. You see, a while back, the author of Smitten Kitchen. Last week, Lecia, author of A Day That Is Dessert. Made the same recipe and blogged about it. Labels: A Day That Is Dessert.

Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Solution for Surplus Corn Flakes and Snickers Bars. My darling husband agreed to pick the recipe for yesterday's dinner and to order the groceries from Amazon Fresh. He chose corn-flake crusted chicken. When the grocery order arrived, I discovered that we had a corn flake surplus situation on our hands. Check out the size of the box:. I'm ordinarily suspicious of any recipe involving cake mix, but these brownies are delicious. They are chewy and not too sweet. For the...Reapi...
