Leaving Nadderby

Friday, May 10, 2013. Not With Swords Loud Clashing. Not With Swords Loud. Given my militaristic tastes, there is a quiet - but important - reminder stuck away in the midst of one of the hymns I have known since I was a kid. It is a reminder to those of us who identify ourselves as Kingdom People - those who believe that God's Kingdom is not a future paradise in another world, but who believe that it is a current responsibility. And a future reality. Living as a Member of the Kingdom of God. Is a beautif...

Leaving Nadderby: April 2010

http://leavingnadderby.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 30, 2010. If you're like me, you wonder sometimes about caveman teenagers. I can't be the only one ? Anyway, sometimes when I find myself sitting in front of a television, I remember all of the childhood warnings about how it would ruin my life:. It will ruin your eyes. It will rot your brain. If you sit too far away you will get headaches from squinting. If you sit too close you will get radiation - and die. Wow - why did we ever keep sitting in front of something that dangerous? For my ge...

Leaving Nadderby: Looking In

Thursday, April 25, 2013. 8220;O wad some power the giftie gie us. To see oursels as ithers see us.”. O would some power the gift to give us. To see ourselves as others see us.). Robert Burns, Poem: “To a Louse” (verse 8). A funny thing happened on the way into Church one Sunday. Picture a sunny Sunday morning anywhere in America. Now imagine a friendly, nicely-dressed couple going up the stairs of a Church moments before the morning Worship service. This scene could have happened - in fact does. But whe...

Leaving Nadderby: June 2010

http://leavingnadderby.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 1, 2010. I loved fire drills when I was a schoolboy. One minute you were stuck at a desk, and the next moment you were allowed - even required! To go outside. I always wished we would have a fire drill every week (you can tell I don't remember too many rainy or cold fire drills, BTW). In 1965 one of our fire drills was different. It wasn't because there was a real fire - that would have been less weird. As Ralphie 'explains' - "I don't know. The BELL rang! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View m...

Unnecessary Buffness: March 2008

http://unnecessarybuffness.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 28, 2008. It's the hap-happiest season of all. Let's play "Guess When"! OK, now guess the when I took these pictures outside my front door:. A) The day I left to go to Ohio for Christmas. B) Right before the first big snow storm. C) A freakin' week after the start of spring. If you guessed "A freakin' week after the start of spring" you're correct! Wednesday, March 19, 2008. I love this time of year. No, not the start of spring - the NCAA Tourney! Happen in the future? Monday, March 17, 2008.

Unnecessary Buffness: stock

http://unnecessarybuffness.blogspot.com/2008/05/stock.html

Tuesday, May 20, 2008. I wish I had the option to by stock in days from my life. You know, if you get a sense like tomorrow is gonna head in one direction or another, you might buy or sell a few shares. But it's been the little things today. From finding out that the yogurt I was ready to eat this morning for breakfast is a month is past its expiration date (what does yogurt turn into after it expires anyway? Maybe I'll purchase some shares on Friday night and come out on top. Have a blast in WV!

Thursday, June 19, 2008. So by popular demand . OK, maybe just by demand . I wanted to post some pics from the rafting trip. I was holding out cause I was hoping that I'd get a couple more pics of, you know, rafting 'n stuff. But just in case I need to prove to you all that I do. Get off my xbox, get outside raft and climb stuff, here's some pics. This is me trying to look cool wearing a gigantic lifejacket, a crevice-invading wetsuit and a plastic hat:. And by the 2nd rapid we were pretty comfortable.

Unnecessary Buffness: July 2008

http://unnecessarybuffness.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 4, 2008. Alright. I gotta make this quick. I only have 24 hours (down to 14 hrs) left now in Michigan. This past week I was with the fam in Ocean City, NJ. Almost every summer for the past 50 years my dad and my aunt have gone there for vacation. My grandpa would taken them to visit their aunt and uncle who owned a house across the street from the beach and boardwalk. So to keep family tradition alive the two families would meet up year. So what are you up to this summer? Have a Great 4th!

Wednesday, February 27, 2008. If a Jonathan Botkin museum were to ever open, this would be the stuff that would be left in the warehouse and never shown to the public for the simple fact that it means nothing to anyone else except Jonathan Botkin. Friday, February 22, 2008. I think it's about time that we ask Al Gore to give back that Nobel Peace Prize. I mean, the weather's been so ice cold that even Hillary's personality is getting jealous. Monday, February 4, 2008. What do you guys make of it?

http://unnecessarybuffness.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 28, 2008. Wow So delinquency has definitely set in here on "the Buffness". I'd love to chalk it up to the awesome weather but that's not the case (although I have noticed that other bloggers have fewer posts than usual). Anyway, I had a great time this past weekend in Ohio. Over the weekend I got to see a lot of family that I typically only see about twice a year. Here's just a dew of us at our place (Blogger really messes with pics - click on it for a better image). Unnecessary Buffness: update

http://unnecessarybuffness.blogspot.com/2008/06/update.html

Wednesday, June 11, 2008. I haven't updated this since then? Wow My apologies "Buffers". The rafting trip went well. As many of you all know I'm not exactly a thrill seeker but it was definitely one of those things that I wanted to try just to see what my "level" was. Could I do it? I was a little upset that I only got one quarter-sized bruise. I wanted something bigger to show off that I flirted with deathly sharp rocks. We demand proof that you were at the top of a mountain. :). June 15, 2008 at 7:37 PM.

June 23, 2012. June 23, 2012. I tell myself, if that were true, and I waited long enough then a tiny figure would appear on the horizon across the field and gradually get larger until I’d see it was Tommy. He’d wave.
