Barbecue & Politics: Thursday THRASH Award: The "SC" Policy Council
http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/2008/04/thursday-thrash-award-sc-policy-council.html
Thursday, April 24, 2008. Thursday THRASH Award: The "SC" Policy Council. Ever wonder what it would be like if the. Had a “council” of sorts, that promoted sound policy from the perspective of the actual needs and values of. A “policy council” if you will. That would be awesome. Perhaps at one time such an entity existed. But those days are gone. That’s because ever since around 2004, the SC Policy Council. Seems to do nothing but (a). Shill for vouchers, like here. This extra money was coming from.

Barbecue & Politics: Thursday THRASH Award: "SC" Club for Growth
http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/2008/05/thursday-thrash-award-sc-club-for.html
Thursday, May 08, 2008. Thursday THRASH Award: "SC" Club for Growth. Why did the SC Club for Growth target Rep. Bill Cotty in 2006? That’s an odd question to kick off the final Thursday THRASH award, I know. Especially because the SC Club for Growth says it’s definitely not shilling for an out-of-state agenda, which is the entire basis for the THRASH awards. True, the Club has had some interesting, out-of-state characteristics during its brief existence. The Club's website still features Karen Iacovelli.

Barbecue & Politics: Barbecue & Politics Spotlight: The Shamlapper Group
http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/2008/08/barbecue-politics-spotlight-shamlapper.html
Monday, August 18, 2008. Barbecue and Politics Spotlight: The Shamlapper Group. Normally I don't write about political consulting firms, because there are enough blogs out there actually written by. Political consulting firms . so if there's dirt to be dished, it usually gets dished with the quickness. Trey Whitehurst and Roger Nutt also used Sandlapper in their losses in House Districts 3 and 35. They were each funded about 40% from Rich and other out-of-state education privatization enthusiasts. From R...

Barbecue & Politics: Who egged Joshua Gross's car?
http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/2008/04/who-egged-joshua-grosss-car.html
Monday, April 14, 2008. Who egged Joshua Gross's car? It’s not often that you’ll hear Gervais stick up for someone associated with the “SC” Club for Growth. And you probably won’t today, either. But it does kinda suck that somebody recently “egged” the car of avowed movement conservative Joshua Gross. Gross blogged about the incident of political terrorism at his new site, the Columbia Conservative. Well said, Joshua. Joshua Gross cannot be silenced by eggs. Only a right wing, SCRG wannabe, Club for Grow...

Barbecue & Politics: Howard Rich Primary Recap
http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/2007/07/list.html
Monday, July 28, 2008. Howard Rich Primary Recap. Vouchers are not an end in themselves; they are a means to make a transition from a government to a market system … I sense that we are on the verge of a breakthrough in one state or another, which will then sweep like a wildfire through the rest of the country… ”. Milton Friedman, Public Schools: Make Them Private. So just how badly does NYC millionaire Howard Rich want our state to be a "foothold state" for the privatization of public schools? Three of ...

Barbecue & Politics: 20,000 foot view of SC politics
http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/2008/08/i-had-boss-once-who-used-to-always.html
Tuesday, August 05, 2008. 20,000 foot view of SC politics. I once had a boss who would always advise taking the "20,000 ft. view" of things. It was his way of saying you should occasionally take a step back and look at the big picture if you really want to know what's going on. It appears that this blog is only interested in digging in one ditch. It would be interesting to read a "fair and balanced" look at contributions. Neither side is blameless. Aiken County ain't fo sale.yet. To Anon 9:50 am. Tell me...

Barbecue & Politics: Charleston millionaires try to finally gain influence in SC politics
http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/2008/08/charleston-millionaires-try-to-finally.html
Friday, August 08, 2008. Charleston millionaires try to finally gain influence in SC politics. If Gervais has said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times:. Millionaires simply have too little influence in our state government. A few months ago, I discussed how the South Carolina Club for Growth is here to fix that problem, by using synchronized contributions from a small group of. Millionaires to fund candidates around the state. Co) and Senate District 23 (. To look at the value of their homes. Anyway, f...

Barbecue & Politics: Will Folks blasts Scott Talley
http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/2008/05/will-folks-blasts-scott-talley.html
Thursday, May 22, 2008. Will Folks blasts Scott Talley. Lawmaker, state Senate candidate, and father Scott Talley (R-Spartanburg) may have thought he was safe running a commercial featuring himself reading books to the two adorable little kids pictured to the right. But he was so, so wrong. That’s because Talley didn’t count on Will Folks (CDV-Columbia) exposing the fact that on some nights in 2006 these kids were, by Folks’ estimation, probably NOT read to by Talley. Come on now, that's a little harsh&#...
