Explorations of melbourne and beyond. October 21, 2015. On the final night of our trip to Europe last year, Mat and I treated ourselves to dinner at an exquisite little place in Amsterdam called Restaurant Johannes. But get out I could not, and so I counted down those five days like a captive waiting release from a veritable tourist. Couple that with an unprecedented case of excruciating acid reflux that lasted the entire Phuket stay, and it became an altogether pretty miserable way to cap off the trip.

Explorations of melbourne and beyond. Europe: An Ice-Cream Expedition. June 28, 2015. It seems only right to share my findings of the frozen world, should you wish to blaze your own ice-cream trail across the great continent of Europe. Berthillon Paris, France. There is no point arguing: you simply must have Berthillon. 29-31 Rue Saint Louis en l’Ile, Paris. Open: 10am – 8pm Wednesday – Sunday. Der verrückte Eismacher Munich, Germany. Explorations of melbourne and beyond. Whims and Wine Merricks Creek, Mornington Peninsula. February 17, 2016. The drive is never so long as I think it will be. It always feels as though we’ve barely even shrugged off the city, when the Peninsula Link suddenly slings us out at some glorious stretch of sand or eucalypt or grapevine. To capture this gorgeous moment in words’ – well, it was a welcome feeling. To visit Merrick’s Creek. To help out with such existential crises as they arise. December 31, 2014.

Explorations of melbourne and beyond. March 12, 2015. Very early into planning our Europe adventure last year, Mat and I decided we wanted to make it a road trip. I’d done Busabout Europe. Back in 2010, and was keen to do something different, and we were both eager to travel in a way that gave us the freedom to really do our own thing. And so, we picked up our car on the outskirts of Paris. One July morning (okay, yes – it was a hair-raising half hour getting out of that city! To a castle-come-winery in ...

They’re yellow and spotty, and you have to cook them for hours and add lots of sugar for them to get anywhere. Being good. But, with a little love, they’re pretty delicious. A mother's guide to where to take your little people for fun days out. I have a confession to make - I love Whipsnade Zoo. For me, it has all the elements you need for a great day out for kids of all ages and the adults too. Whipsnade is located off junction 9 of the M1 - around 15-20 minutes drive from the junction, so fairly easy to get to, although the signposts do take some spotting so make sure you have an eagle-eyed navigator with you! I couldn't find anywhere that gave you a mother's perspective o...

Sunday, 16 August 2015. Links to this post. Location: Melbourne VIC, Australia. Saturday, 15 August 2015. I'm done chasing summers! Time to regroup, reconnect with family, friends and life back in Australia. Of course he remembered me. His little heart beating so strong and his tail wagging so fast,. He was practically in orbit! Here he is, the Crazy Poodle, slightly more unkempt than when I left. But still as adoring as ever! Mind you, I've noticed some new habits that have crept in. Which gives all us ...
