A Schlukebir family blog. Working to get better. Living out Jesus’ version of “Do Not Murder” →. April 11, 2014. A lot of times, this is what our life feels like. Between spending time as a family, homeschooling our children, running a business and leading a community of people to follow Christ, it feels like there is a lot of juggling going on most days. There are a lot of days when it is great. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Working to get better. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Martinspoelstra on...

A Schlukebir family blog. Wrapping up 2013 and bringing in 2014. January 1, 2014. What a blessing it is to have a New Year and a fresh start. The holidays have given us time to do some reflecting on the old year and some time to look forward to new opportunities and resolutions for our ministry and business in the new year. None Has it prepared me better for the situations that have come? New International Version (NIV). 5 This is what the Lord says:. Cursed is the one who trusts in man,. To continue to ...

Deep Fried Goodness: April 2014
http://deep-fried-goodness.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 25, 2014. That One Time When Some Things Happened. Maybe one day I shall be so productive as to catch up on all the many wondrous and delightful things that have been going on here in the 'hood. But maybe not. I am far behind. For today let's cut our losses and move on. Checking on the seeds we planted. At the end of May, I am going to be working only 2 days per week. (And the villagers rejoice! So Quasi-Stay-At-Home-Mom, here I come! And I'm really excited about it! We are going to China!

Saturday, June 6, 2015. Some Catching Up For Majorly Slacking Bloggers. Allllrighty. So we've been home for a while now. Things are going well! Also, busy. Who knew! Ephraim has been growing, and seems to be getting a lot stronger. He has a lot more stamina than at first, tho he has yet to take his first steps. He can stand up from seated position, but just wobbles for a second and then plops back down. He has a lot of encouragers, tho. I don't think it'll be too long. :). We LOVE our new house, and our ...

Deep Fried Goodness: January 25~ Visa Medical
http://deep-fried-goodness.blogspot.com/2015/01/january-25-visa-medical.html
Sunday, January 25, 2015. January 25 Visa Medical. This morning was the medical exam for the visa. Nothing too extensive. Just your basic exam and height/weight, etc. E weighed in at a whopping 18 lbs, with clothes, shoes, and a wet diaper. He was 27.5 inches long. They draw blood for tb testing for kids over 2, so we dodged that bullet, thankfully. They said he had no murmur! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). So I can just write anything I want in here? Deep Fried Goodness: June 2014
http://deep-fried-goodness.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 24, 2014. These Kids. They are comedians, and they don't know it. Mostly for the sake of my memory, here are some recent(ish) conversations at our house. Me: Goodnight guys. I'm going for a run. Isaac: Then you'll be sweating LIKE A FREAK when you come in and hug us! Eli: Ababa, tell me the truth. Were you sleeping with your shirt off? John: Yes, I did. Eli: Are you lying? You need your shirt on! Me: (in an overly excited and encouraging voice) Raya, shall we go sit on the potty? Isaac: God...

Deep Fried Goodness: January 28~ Home!
http://deep-fried-goodness.blogspot.com/2015/02/january-28-home.html
Tuesday, February 3, 2015. We stopped and picked up Isaac at school. We'd warned his teacher that were coming, and it was sweet, because then his class met Ephraim and said Ni Hao and said they'd been praying for us. Isaac was surprised to see us and more than happy to leave school early, and we headed home to meet the others! A bit of Chaos. (What is Isaac doing? My lap was suddenly very popular. All up in his face. All the time. He's mostly a pretty happy guy, tho. Teaching him some good stuff. Be " TH...

http://deep-fried-goodness.blogspot.com/2015/01/january-26-shopping-and-touring.html
Sunday, January 25, 2015. January 26 Shopping and Touring. This morning we were able to facetime with the kids back home, which was fun. Grandma Barb was relieved of her kid duties, and reportedly went home to take a nap. :). Aunt Amber and Grandma on The Farm (who probably did not bring her kittens with her, unfortunately) have now taken the reigns. The kids looked happy! It’s been a good trip, but I can’t wait to be home. There are shops and stuff in there now too. So… more souvenir shopping. January 2...

Deep Fried Goodness: January 23~ The Garden
http://deep-fried-goodness.blogspot.com/2015/01/january-23-garden.html
Friday, January 23, 2015. January 23 The Garden. The garden was beautiful, and it was nice to be outside and in the sunshine. I had Ephraim in the babycarrier thing, but he doesn’t really love it because he’d much prefer to be facing forward and looking all around him. Cuz I’m not much to look at. J. Here we are at the garden. with Matt's finger. John found a tall dutch lady to chat with. After the garden we went out for dim sum at a restaurant right by the garden. It was really good! Tanks of Live Stuff.

Thursday, January 22, 2015. January 22 Orphanage Visit. Today was basically more of the same. I was up at 230. I got up for a while, and then went back to bed. I might have dozed some, and then E was up at 7 and we headed to breakfast shortly after that. Anyway, after breakfast we hung around for a while. There are a couple channels on tv that are in English. Monday, December 13, 2010. Life and Times of the Dorms. One of the first dormitories at CSULB, Los Alamitos. Courtesy of Shane Kendall. For the past 40 years the dorms have been around with much expansion. Starting off with one building and now with about 20 buildings has given a lot of momentum toward even more possible expansion. Living Incurably | Living Incurably Despite Chronic Illness
I'm a little fascinated with the dual meaning of the word, "Incurable". Most people use the term to describe a disease or condition unable to be cured. A bad thing. But our good fortune is that it can ALSO be used to depict a person who won't be changed by their negative circumstances. A person who is determined to thrive despite their limitations. A person living vibrantly and with gusto despite having a chronic illness. A very good thing. Follow the Living Incurably Blog via Email.
