A few things | Brooklyn Dad

Can you raise a normal kid in Park Slope? Baby Names Rejected by Wife. More mundanely, we went to the playground today, after going with great success yesterday. They’ve installed (well, situated) an imagination playground. At the 9th street Harmony playground, at Prospect Park. Yesterday, on a great sunny day, we played with those blocks, then went on (as we call them) the squeaky bridge, then the wobbly bridge. Then after some guiding and cajoling, even the corkscrew slide! August 4, 2013 at 11:07 am.

Can you raise a normal kid in Park Slope? Baby Names Rejected by Wife. How long do the pro-papa salad days last? I am loving it, though I don’t think it will last. I keep waiting for the ‘don’t. Papa to do it’ swing to happen, but so far it’s all sunshine and lollipops. Oh, and this morning he was playing with his cars, laying on his front while propped up on his arms. And he turned to me and said, “I’m pooping.” And you know what? Traveling with the little one. July 25, 2013 at 11:46 pm. Boot camp, day 2.
On my lonesome | Brooklyn Dad

Can you raise a normal kid in Park Slope? Baby Names Rejected by Wife. The bad news is, it’s been just over 24 hours. The good news is, we’ve got 6 more days to go. We did go to Tinkergarten. Today, and played with mud. And got a full-on happy dance about this. Mud! And a remarkably (well, not by their standards, but more by my own ‘oh crap, I forgot to bring a shovel’ life) well-planned outing and set of activities. Thank you Meghan and Kyla, for such plush artisan mud! But really secretly feeling this.

Can you raise a normal kid in Park Slope? Baby Names Rejected by Wife. Boot camp, day 2. First, I love how boot camp makes me feel like we are training for navy seals around here, instead of spending the days staring at a two year old’s penis and tush for 10 hours. Although…he has not yet pooped in the potty. We are using diapers for naps and sleeps, and he’s woken from both with poop. So we haven’t done any #2 training yet. I know, the suspense, right? I will obviously keep you apprised. You are comment...

Can you raise a normal kid in Park Slope? Baby Names Rejected by Wife. Traveling with the little one. And on the potty front, baby has had one minor incident in the house, a minor incident on the plane, and the rest success. There’s another airplane trip tomorrow, so we will see how that goes. I put him in a diaper for the flight, but then had to take it off in the plane to go pee – it’s a ‘just in case’ (read: poop) diaper. Boot camp, day 2. How long do the pro-papa salad days last? Boot camp, day 2.

Boot camping it | Brooklyn Dad

Can you raise a normal kid in Park Slope? Baby Names Rejected by Wife. So we are moving out of state in a couple of months, starting a new job, traveling here and there this summer. What would make this all just a little more interesting and fun? Why boot camp potty training, natch. B is pretty ready for potty training ready, he pees into the potty (standing up) and I’ve heard from his daycare that he occasionally poops in the potty as well – though I’ve never seen that myself. Fun at the Museum. You are...

Can you raise a normal kid in Park Slope? Baby Names Rejected by Wife. Well our bags are packed, we’re ready to go. Movers arrived today, to box up our worldly belongings. The reality of the move gets pretty concrete when you’re faced with an empty wall of painting hooks and a wrapped up sofa. There is still some anxiety on my part, but it is easing as it moves from unknown fear to a set of tasks, which have solutions. As my friend tells me, no one is dying in the makin if this movie. At this moment you ...

Living Outside the Box
Living Outside the Box. Saturday, 11 January 2014. Today Small chose two of the pages I had printed out and (in a huge leap forward for a little boy who has had little interest and some difficulty with using a pen) he wrote the answers himself. In case you were wondering, yes unschoolers can use workbooks! The essence of unschooling is the flexibility to provide a range of resources and follow your child's lead, so if they find worksheets interesting then get printing. Friday, 10 January 2014. As the owner of a busy oral and maxillofacial surgery practice, I am faced with the challenge of providing exceptional care while running a profitable enterprise. Living Outside the Jar. Culinary Adventures of a New Mother. Who Wouldn’t Like That? July 1, 2011 by Brita. I had a brainstorm that has had a pretty high success rate so far! I started thinking about all those yummy, not quite so healthy products. The ones that appeal to kids and carry over into adulthood. I decided to break down a few and make baby versions of them. The inspirations were: Broccoli, Cheddar and Ham LeanPockets, Milkshakes, Fruit Snacks and Chicken Nuggets with Fries. You mean that one?

Living Outside Time
Saturday, July 20, 2013. Friday, August 24, 2012. Does language imprison thought? If it is accepted that there is no thought outside language, it nevertheless seems that language is inadequate for thought. But to know this, to sense this, that language is inadequate for thought raises the question: how do we know that language is inadequate for thought if that knowing is not in-itself a kind of thinking? And we can readily ask the question, what do we mean by thought? The thought that while it remains ou...
