Project Marmalade: A Korean marmalade drink
http://www.projectmarmalade.com/2015/03/a-korean-marmalade-drink.html
Dispatches from the marmalade frontline. Wednesday, 11 March 2015. A Korean marmalade drink. Now that the Seville season is over, I am looking for new things to write about that don't involve actually making marmalade. While thinking about this last night, I remembered that I had a jar of Yuja Cha lurking at the back of my fridge that I hadn't yet investigated, so I pulled it out from behind several other neglected jars and boiled the kettle. Inside was a concoction of thick-cut, bitter peel in a sticky,...

Project Marmalade: Local Marmalade
http://www.projectmarmalade.com/2015/05/local-marmalade.html
Dispatches from the marmalade frontline. Thursday, 21 May 2015. Where I am sitting right now. But anyway, what does this have to do with marmalade? My son had waffles, bananas and maple syrup with a banana and orange smoothie; I had sourdough toast and this marmalade. The baby had crumbs from our plates (she loves a good chewy crust). It was a success all round, and not least because of the marmalade (and the pools of melting butter on my toast, I had to wash my hands before typing). Bread, Cakes And Ale.

Project Marmalade: December 2013
http://www.projectmarmalade.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Dispatches from the marmalade frontline. Friday, 13 December 2013. Killing time at work before a book launch and browsing through some books on our office bookshelf, I found The Breakfast Bible. By Seb Emina and (yes, really) Malcolm Eggs. Page 87 has a good riff about breakfast and class barriers, followed by a run-down of things that are considered U and non-U (or posh vs common). His entries are charmingly brief. I think we can agree on the first part, though Marmite is hardly working-class any more.

Dispatches from the marmalade frontline. Tuesday, 13 January 2015. Dan Lepard's Marvellous Marmalade. Dan Lepard's Marvellous Marmalade. Well, that was easy. I made this recipe. The end result (labels designed by 6-year-old Jack). In fact, this was such a resounding success that that I'm tempted to call off my intended search. And declare this the winner. But for the sake of thoroughness, I'll try a few more methods, just to see what happens. Promisingly entitled The Surprising Life of Constance Spry.

Project Marmalade: March 2014
http://www.projectmarmalade.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Dispatches from the marmalade frontline. Sunday, 30 March 2014. Spent the last two weeks trawling through Wodehouse: A Life. By Robert McCrum, convinced it would be full of marmalade references. After all, Wodehouse is the quintessential Englishman, and given that his rather foolish behaviour during WWII saw him exiled to the US, he surely must have sent for marmalade, rather as Edward VIII did in similar circumstances. Last week I had the great privilege of staying at Dalemain Mansion. In Cumbria, to take part in the judging of the artisan marmalades at the World Marmalade Awards. In theory I was there with my Fortnum's hat on (it co-hosts the awards and sells the winning marmalade) to write a feature for the website - see here. Sandy and Carole Boyd. Of course I am sworn to secrecy...

Project Marmalade: May 2014

Dispatches from the marmalade frontline. Friday, 23 May 2014. A Bit of Trivia. A Bit of Trivia. Some time ago, while browsing through the office bookshelves in a lull between urging customers to buy more stuff, I found a promising four entries for marmalade in the index of. Traditional Foods of Britain (Laura Mason and Catherine Brown, Prospect Books). And three for marmelo , the Portuguese word for quince, which slowly evolved into 'marmalade'. I sense a marketing opportunity. A Question of Stereotypes.

Dispatches from the marmalade frontline. Marmalade Bread and Butter Pudding. This is the marmalade variation on the basic recipe, so is edited a little from Hugh's original version. 150g butter, plus extra for buttering the dish. 10–12 slices of white bread. 900ml mixed double cream and milk, preferably half and half.
