Hi, I'm Meg.: It's hot. And derby.
http://lucypants.blogspot.com/2011/07/its-hot-and-derby.html
Hi, I'm Meg. Wednesday, July 20, 2011. It's hot. And derby. Joel and I are enjoying the most spectacularly hot week EVER (heat index supposed to be at 122 F today, I think? Dew points nearing the mid-80s? In footloose and fancy-free fashion - because my parents have the kids! I'm guessing my folks are going crazy, because it's not much cooler in Chicago, and a mega heat wave is just as bad as below-zero when it comes to kids getting stir-crazy from being inside all day. But me? Last night I had a bootcam...

What Happy Couples Do Blog: So ...
http://whathappycouplesdo.blogspot.com/2014/06/so.html
Friday, June 27, 2014. Hopefully you'll hang in there with the somewhat inconsistent posting of happy-stuff on this happy blog. Since and even before the Neat-Pete and Great-Kate storytelling, I've been working on a super-happy, super-top-secret new writing project that hopefully I can tell you all about some day soon! I hope you will agree - when you "see" it (a hint) - that it's worth the wait. For instance, did you see David Brooks' opinion piece in the NYTimes this week? Madly in love with him! When ...

Hi, I'm Meg.: One month 'til the season starts!
http://lucypants.blogspot.com/2012/08/one-month-til-season-starts.html
Hi, I'm Meg. Wednesday, August 08, 2012. One month 'til the season starts! One month from tonight is the first game of the Minnesota RollerGirls' Season 9. Can't believe it's only a month out - I am getting VERY excited for the start of home season. I was so nervous and frightened and intimidated at the start of last season, and I think it might be a different story this year. But I can't wait to find out. Be plagued by penalties. So it would seem to follow that we should practice NOT committing pena...

lemmondrops: books read in 2007
http://lemmondrops.blogspot.com/2008/01/books-read-in-2007.html
Sunday, January 6, 2008. Books read in 2007. I don't even pretend to be able to keep up with my friend Liz's 50 Book Challenge. But I can say I managed to read 26 books last year. And that doesn't count the reference-type books, such as. The Baby Name Wizard,. Which I feel like I read as if it were a novel. (Really — that book is addictively fascinating! In looking back over these titles, I remember that I was in the middle of a Maeve Binchy run when I learned about my cancer at the end of August. Modern...

Hi, I'm Meg.: Monday afternoon
http://lucypants.blogspot.com/2012/08/monday-afternoon.html
Hi, I'm Meg. Monday, August 13, 2012. Today is sort of my favorite kind of day. Kids had swimming in the morning, then swung by a dear friend's house with ice cream to celebrate her GETTING DRAFTED TO MNRG! It's not too hot, the kids and I ate a decent lunch, and now they are playing together incredibly nicely. Enough to make a mama want to grab a glass of wine and a Sudoku and do some happy deep-breathing. At the end of practice I found out that many of my friends did, indeed, get drafted - HOORAY!

Hi, I'm Meg.: September 2012
http://lucypants.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Hi, I'm Meg. Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Autumn of my discontent. Things have taken a strange turn for me lately. I traveled with the All-Stars out to the Pacific Northwest during the last weekend of August. Part of me wants to add more detail about the trip, because it was . eventful . but I'll cut to the end for now. Now, it's only been 3 weeks. Six weeks will take me up to the next bout, on October 6. I'm not hopeful about skating then. It's absolutely killing me. So it's not like I don't have anyt...

Tuesday, November 25, 2008. My week in the hospital. Here's the Cliff's Notes version of all that transpired between last Monday and yesterday:. 8226; I checked into the emergency complaining of shortness of breath and pain in my right side. 8226; I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my right lung and fluid build-up around my right lung. lemmondrops: benjamin's birth day
http://lemmondrops.blogspot.com/2008/03/benjamins-birth-day.html
Monday, March 31, 2008. Before I tell this story, I want to say what I've been thinking about with great gratitude all week, which is that I am proof that a woman can have a natural, medication-free birth without taking a special class (like a Bradley method class) and without being in particularly good physical shape. (And after a prior c-section. So here's how Ben's VBAC birth. I had a couple of intense contractions on the way out of the house, and then, in the middle of our front walk, my water broke ...
