Virgil Petrisor: June 2005
http://vandrona.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 21, 2005. So is there a solution? We live in an imperfect world, so I have my doubts. I will, however, try to get something started. So, if you're interested, tomorrow and Thursday after Vespers, we are practising for Sunday's Liturgy in the Holy Cross chapel. Posted by Virgil Petrisor at 7:43 PM. Friday, June 17, 2005. Catch-up and one odd thing. Posted by Virgil Petrisor at 2:03 PM. Saturday, June 11, 2005. Posted by Virgil Petrisor at 8:33 PM. Thursday, June 09, 2005. Finally, there is t...

Virgil Petrisor: March 2005
http://vandrona.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Back to the future. Or at least the present. It's been a busy two weeks. We started the adult education program at church and that has been a bit of a challenge. Next week my wife and I are presenting on the Orthodox understanding of marriage. It feels a little strange, only having been married about eight months, but there are two things to keep in mind. One final thought. I just noticed that I said "celebrate the start of Lent." A Freudian slip, if I ever saw one :). Semester...

Virgil Petrisor: Sermon on the Sunday of the Last Judgment, 2014
http://vandrona.blogspot.com/2014/02/sermon-on-sunday-of-last-judgment-2014.html
Sunday, February 23, 2014. Sermon on the Sunday of the Last Judgment, 2014. I am bringing that up because I was reading a few weeks ago, and I re-read it recently, a brief interview with Metropolitan Nicholas (Hatzinikolaou). God created us, whether it was through evolution or any other means. It doesn't matter, because we were created in the image and likeness of God. Can we think and imagine how different the world would be if our focus was on the image and likeness of God, the relationship tha...Where...

Virgil Petrisor: Children's Sermon on the Sunday of the Prodigal Son, 2014
http://vandrona.blogspot.com/2014/02/childrens-sermon-on-sunday-of-prodigal.html
Sunday, February 16, 2014. Children's Sermon on the Sunday of the Prodigal Son, 2014. This morning St. Paul says that all things are permitted for me, but not all things are beneficial to me. And I'd like to think about that for a little bit, because it's an interesting thing to think about, an interesting thing for him to say. What does that mean? For quite a few of you down here, you can start do ing. A little something. Ma. As we do things in our lives, whether it is with food, whether it is time for ...

Virgil Petrisor: July 2005
http://vandrona.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 28, 2005. Five things I miss about my childhood, etc. As promised, having been tagged by Magda, I'll try to write about five things I miss about my childhood. And doing the same with them. In the winter it was always fun to go out and play in the snow. I remember one particular attempt at building a large snowman. It turned out to be rather larger than we could manage. And wanted to start a fight. Since I was going in, I didn't want to be a part of it. When they asked who I was, I ...On an...

Virgil Petrisor: Sermon on the 15th Sunday of Luke, 2014
http://vandrona.blogspot.com/2014/01/sermon-on-15th-sunday-of-luke-2014.html
Sunday, January 26, 2014. Sermon on the 15th Sunday of Luke, 2014. The gospel this morning. Why do I mention that? Because each and every one of us is Zacchaeus. Jesus wants to come and dwell within the house of our hearts. He wants to come and be with us. Of course, we know. This, not only because of everything we read in the Gospels, but because every time in the Divine Liturgy when the priest says, "With fear of God, faith, and love, draw near," and what does the priest invite us to. Before we can get...

Virgil Petrisor: Sermon on the Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee, 2014
http://vandrona.blogspot.com/2014/02/sermon-on-sunday-of-publican-and.html
Sunday, February 09, 2014. Sermon on the Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee, 2014. To crash, b. Ut chances are you're going to get a little bit of a scare, have the car twitch a little bit, and, yes, eventually if you stray too far over, then you're going to lose grip, turn around, and get stuck, or even worse, have the car totaled. So where are we. Church, by the teachings of Christ and the practices of the Church that are there. Exactly for that reason. Ou that I am not like other people. I thank.

Virgil Petrisor: Children's Sermon on the Sunday of the Last Judgment, 2014
http://vandrona.blogspot.com/2014/02/childrens-sermon-on-sunday-of-last.html
Sunday, February 23, 2014. Children's Sermon on the Sunday of the Last Judgment, 2014. Today is Meatfare Sunday, and the actual name of this Sunday in our tradition is the Sunday of the Last Judgment. As we heard in the gospel. So when I heard this morning in Orthros, in one of the hymns, it was asking: Are you fasting? As we think about that, as we think about all the things that we hear we heard this morning in the epistle. Throughout Lent we collect coins for the Orthodox Christian Mission Center.

March 2, 2009. Strength From Way Back. My therapist has been paying me all sorts of compliments lately, telling me that I’m a strong woman with a well-defined sense of right and wrong. I figured that was just good business sense on her part. With the economy in free fall, a therapist who makes her patients feel good about themselves, (but not. Good), will ensure herself a decent income in the coming months. My mom wasn’t impressed. “It’s just words. Ignore him.”. My doctors inserted rods on either side o...
