Making Light of Me

Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Yesterday I helped open the shop. It's fall and the leaves blow into the foyer with this glorious mosaic floor. Everyone needs to be welcomed in by noticing the art upon which they trod, so I attempted the first (of what will be many) sweepings of the mosaic foyer. Why is this even worth a blog post? Monday, September 15, 2014. Bits of Squam Through My Lens. I hope to return. Ann Wood handmade. Check out her Paper Mache Ships. Ann Wood mushrooms. What fun we had making these!

Making Light of Me: October 2013

http://www.makinglightofme.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Rock Paper. Scissors. This month has been full of adventure, learning and happiness. If we could all begin all our blog posts just like that, what a wonderful world this would be, yes? I spent a month in Colorado in 2013 and ten days of it were in October. A cause for happiness indeed! And the ROCK in my title…. I was so thankful to get to participate in the last one! We had three great artists come teach sessions too. For me, it was a slice of the New Earth! Politics. I&#8...

Making Light of Me: 12 Dancing Princesses

http://www.makinglightofme.blogspot.com/2014/08/12-dancing-princesses.html

Tuesday, August 26, 2014. If you've made your way over here from Carla's Sonheim's blog, welcome. I was delighted to contribute to our Year of the Fairy Tale course call for some fancy schmancy princesses! But, I digress. My princesses came about as I glommed onto some techniques I've been learning this year. When I clean up my hands from messing with my clay sculptures, I am enjoying making another kind of mixed media mess. I have a theme here, do I not: messes. (Another blog post). Thanks for peeking&#...

Making Light of Me: March 2011

http://www.makinglightofme.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 24, 2011. The nationals are used to the rhythms. Mid morning flocks of tourists disembark to either find their tour or pay the stated price for “Chair, Umbrella and 2 Beers.” Not being a beach sitting type, the allure escapes me. I’d have to brush up on the history of St. Maarten to understand the very moving sculpture in the middle of one roundabout of a man (a slave I presume? Wikipedia, here I come once I don’t have to pay far too much for internet connection! We had fun in the sun pad...

Making Light of Me: February 2011

http://www.makinglightofme.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, February 24, 2011. 3o,ooo feet to be exact. No, I'm not there at the moment, but I was yesterday, winging it from the Mediterranean like climate of the NW corner, back to gray, cloudy, snow covered Ohio. What follows was written from altitude. In my journal. With a pen! I want to be able to articulate my own 'theology of travel' which is what I call it for now. I'm not quite sure what it will end up to be, but something along those lines. How is it that Jesus goes ahead of me and meets ...I lov...

Killmers In Japan: February 2010

http://killmersinjapan.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Our time in Osaka, Japan. Sunday, February 28, 2010. Flat Stanley's cousin, Flat Wyatt comes to visit. One of Karen's friends from NC has a nephew who's class is in the midst of reading about the adventures of Flat Stanley which means. all the kids prepare to embark on adventures of their own. I was thrilled when Mel asked if Flat Wyatt could come for a visit! I have such fond memories of our kids doing this same project when we were at Sanford School). Here's Flat Wyatt on his first scooter ride! They s...

One day, I hope to figure out where these days, weeks and months go, but. until then- just a quick update. Two words come to mind when I think back on our family vacation: Incredible and Blessed. http://killmersinjapan.blogspot.com/2011/06/march-11-2011.html

Our time in Osaka, Japan. Monday, June 6, 2011. March 11, 2011. Anyway, we didn't know anything about it until we came in for the day around 5:30. Only then did we see the devastation. We had almost gone to Sendai to ski and had gone there two years previously. Amazingly we chose to go to Niseko and missed the earthquake. We flew home the next day with almost no delay.
