But it's inspired by those flavors, and I did get some of the ingredients at the local Indo-Pak grocery. That's something, isn't it? Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. 1/2 lb dry chickpeas, soaked and cooked (see The Story). 2 cloves garlic, in large pieces. 1/4 cup olive oil, more as needed. Juice of two lemons. 1-2 tsp. salt (to taste). 1 tsp ground cumin. Soak and cook the chickpeas; (they take 1 1/2-2 hrs.). Drain and cool; save 1/2 cup cooking liquid.
