Speaking of Holiday Spirit... - Arse About Face
http://arseaboutface.livejournal.com/685602.html
Such stuff as dreams are made on. Speaking of Holiday Spirit. Nov 5th, 2010 at 11:47 AM. In the realm of sappy music, two names come immediately to mind: popular Christmas music, and that guy who did Butterfly Kisses. Those of us who get off on this sort of crap (almost always in secret and shame, sort of like how we wish furries would operate) have oft wondered what untold brilliance would result if ever these two were to meet. It was almost Christmas time. There I stood in another line. A pair of shoes.

There is no such thing as a God-forsaken town: Poetry Friday: Shakespeare
http://thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com/2015/08/poetry-friday-shakespeare.html
Friday, August 07, 2015. It's Poetry Friday again! I have been working in my classroom all week, getting ready for school to start next week. We are going to start late, due to concerns about election aftermath (we have voting on Sunday). It's a good thing, because I am not ready for school yet. And a couple of days after school starts, I'm leaving to take my daughter to college. There's been some beweeping going on. Love and loss - Shakespeare understood. When, in disgrace with Fortune and men's eyes.

There is no such thing as a God-forsaken town: June 2015
http://thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 26, 2015. I shared this poem once before back in 2008. I love how specific it is, and how it places us in one unrepeatable moment. Yes, I remember Adlestrop –. The name because one afternoon. Of heat the express-train drew up there. Unwontedly. It was late June. The steam hissed. Someone cleared his throat. No one left and no one came. On the bare platform. What I saw. Was Adlestrop – only the name. And willows, willow-herb, and grass,. And meadowsweet, and haycocks dry,. Was Handle with Care.

There is no such thing as a God-forsaken town: December 2014
http://thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. We're back from a few days at the beach in time to celebrate the end of this year and the beginning of the next. Here are the last five books of 2014. If I finish another one today, I'll add it to 2015's tally. Was The Collected Sermons of Walter Brueggemann. I've been reading these sermons all year, and finding them nourishing to my soul. Highly recommended. Was another Anthony Trollope book, the last one in the Barchester series, The Last Chronicle of Barset. Books #1 and 2.

There is no such thing as a God-forsaken town: Poetry Friday - Repelling Skunk
http://thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com/2015/07/poetry-friday-repelling-skunk.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. Poetry Friday - Repelling Skunk. I missed a whole month of Poetry Fridays! I am back home now, ready to enjoy the last few days of summer before I go back to work. The summer did not go exactly as I had imagined. For one thing, I had a rather unpleasant experience about which I wrote two poems. The first one was called "Biopsy," but thankfully the second was called "I Don't Have Cancer Day.". By the way, writers, how do you deal with this? A lot of my poems are written for. He coul...

There is no such thing as a God-forsaken town: Reading Update
http://thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com/2015/06/reading-update_20.html
Saturday, June 20, 2015. Was Handle with Care. Both by Jodi Picoult. These aren't great literature, but they are absorbing stories with courtroom dramas at the heart of them. By Gail Godwin, a story set at the end of World War Two and involving regret and remorse. Was The King's Curse. After these four rather dark books, I really need to find something more cheerful to read! I bet you do! Hope you find something brighter soon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). There is no such thing as a God-forsaken town: March 2015
http://thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 27, 2015. Poetry Friday: Chocolate Cake. I can't seem to find any poems about the college application process. Odd, because it has certainly inspired plenty of emotion, both joy and anguish. The highs and lows of March with my daughter and her classmates have been dizzying. We are ready for a calmer interlude now that all the responses are in, and it's time to choose among the yeses, and soothe away the nos. National Poetry Month is coming! Friday, March 20, 2015. Because in people my age,.
