Capturing the magic of the moment. Hypno-birthing: Yes, I did it. I Carried a Cross to Chick-fil-a (a Good Friday Pilgrimage) →. How the Elderly Changed My Life. March 4, 2014. Are you new, honey? I’m volunteering because I want to, I said, telling them I was 28 and worked fulltime in the next town. This was my lunch hour, and instead of eating my peanut butter and banana sandwich at my desk, I was here to be an attentive and cheerful waitress. Her eyes sparkled with pure enjoyment. From what I could gat...

Capturing the magic of the moment. Newer posts →. My Mother the Superhero. January 11, 2014. Did you know that being a parent makes you kind of a superhero? Later, the neighbor told other neighbors that she had been scared. It wasn’t every day that she was threatened with a knife by one of her own neighbors. I never knew this story until recently when I was home for Christmas, but I loved it when I heard it. My mother, the hero. It really gets to the heart of why every parent is a hero. Your partner, wil...

Capturing the magic of the moment. Hypno-birthing: Yes, I did it. →. The Fight Against Time. January 31, 2014. Time is a sweet ally and a cunning foe for a parent. One of my friends says that every day of her life feels like Groundhog Day. She has a 2 year old, and every morning they wake up at the same time, eat the same breakfast, watch the same TV show, and walk the same circuitous route through the neighborhood with a pause at an overpass to watch trains rattle by at dizzying speed. Trains! Uh, yes&#...

About Me | everyday extraordinary

Capturing the magic of the moment. If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side. A few years ago, I made a New Year’s resolution to be more positive. (Yes, I am one of those perfectionist, glass-is-half-empty kinds of people.) That launched me on a journey as a wife and mom toward appreciating and loving life as it’s happening to me, moment by moment. That’s why I write this blog. Please keep reading. I would like to share my extraordinary life with you. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

Capturing the magic of the moment. My Mother the Superhero. The Fight Against Time →. January 24, 2014. I’m at a conference in Houston for the organization I write for, The Anglican Mission in the Americas. Between sessions, I am eating a lovely green salad in my hotel room and enjoying a little peace and quiet. To not be productive, tireless and in motion. Have you ever been burned out? What did you do about it? Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window). Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

Capturing the magic of the moment. I Carried a Cross to Chick-fil-a (a Good Friday Pilgrimage). May 17, 2014. So, here I am a pilgrim in a strange metroplex, walking behind a Catholic priest. How many layers is he wearing, anyway? How can he breathe? I feel a sudden kinship with him, so I ask him if I can take a picture of him with my iPhone to show my husband, and he says, yes! He works at Prince of Peace, a Catholic church nearby. He is my age, maybe younger. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).
