July 10, 2015. Canícula refers to the period of greatest heat during the year. It usually starts with the summer solstice after June 21. Enjoying this year’s canícula in a coffee farm. I’ve gotten to enjoy this year’s canícula mostly on the weekends, since these last two weeks I’ve been working from the office, where I look outside the window at the blue sky and bright sun with longing. Finally at the end of the month, I’ll be doing several community visits, I can’t wait! And of course, making arepas!
